Are 2022 models not getting any newer OTA updates?

Hi all,

I have a 2022 Lariat ER and have read in so many places about new updates lately but mine is still on SYNC-25.2.1.6.5.

I just checked and saw that newer versions have up to SYNC-25.2.4.9.

I am wondering if 2022 models are no longer getting any other OTA updates.

Is @Ford Motor Company already abandoning us? Why can’t we get the nice stuff on our amazing trucks?
Ford! Make us prouder and make the people who could not get these trucks anymore jealous.

At this point I am hoping that the parking pawl recall will force the issue and @Ford Motor Company will have to resolve whatever is jamming up updates for our trucks. At present with their withdrawal of many updates from FDRS many of the earliest and most loyal owners have literally no mechanism to get up to date software on their trucks - even dealers can't help.

I’m on a 2023 and I also have the same sync version as you. My last update was in September to add the walk away lock toggle to the big screen.

Parking pawl recall? That is new to me!! From now on I will add extra security when parking.‘don’t want to risk it!

Recall 25C69, supposedly fixed by software that will be delivered OTA. But some of us have not received OTA updates in literally years, and Ford has recently removed numerous updates from FDRS so even dealers can't help.

To add some clarity - SSM 53966 documents the withdrawal of APIM updates from FDRS, which means FDRS cannot be used to apply any sequence of module updates that requires an update to the APIM. This has evidently been the situation since at least July, and means among other things that if your truck, like mine, is not getting OTA updates (in my case, for years), then whether you subscribe yourself or ask the dealer to do it, FDRS may not be an update path for you either.

According to the App, my last update was to "enhance the way your vehicle receives and transmits software resulting in a more dependable Software Update experience".

Then it says ECG-24.2.4.10.1.

That was January 2025, and nothing since.

The service tab says I have an open recall 25S49 issued May 2025, which is supposed to correct a bug in the infotainment screen where it could freeze followed by a system reboot.

Meanwhile, my infotainment screen has had a bug that prevents it from showing the artist and song on Sirius XM. I've reset the whole system and the dealer tried to do likewise and it's simply stuck that way.

So far the OTA system seems to be limited to just critical bugs, never feature improvements and since that recall is basically something that should be easy to send OTA, it apparently doesn't even do that well.

If you have an open recall involving the APIM (which it sounds like you do) and Ford cannot resolve it, likely because of the above referenced SSM and withdrawal of APIM updates, you should really file a report with NHTSA.

Oddly enough, I'm not as concerned with getting the recall, but I've been hoping that since it has something to do with the infotainment system that there's at least a slim chance it may also fix the problem with not seeing the artist and song on Sirius XM.

I found a quirky workaround. If I switch to CarPlay or the map, it allows me to show what's playing on the right side (I have the smaller screen, so the right side can be used for widgets like current trip, bed camera, etc.). All other times, the artist and song are missing.

Is your truck connected to Wi-Fi? I have found that most updates will not occur if the truck is only on cellular. This is even true with my '24.

My truck, at least, is connected to Wifi more of the time than it's not, because I use it only 3 days a week and both places I park it have Wifi coverage.
