Can you activate PPO without having to keep the truck "running" the whole time?

Yup... I gave them the benefit of the doubt early on as they were supposed to be learning from all the EV start ups that prioritize software. But now it's been 4 years and Ford still can't fix simple bugs, heck, they still can't even roll out updates to everyone. Did I mention it's been 4 Years!. Ford's solution.. Cut the software department. They just don't get this new software age. This just zapped away all the decades of trust and generational loyalty I had with Ford Trucks. I don't care about their fancy tree branch assembly line cutting costs when they can't even provide or care to provide software updates that are already complete. Things need to dramatically change on the software side for us current EV owners to regain some trust or we won't be buying again no matter what the price is. I am not going to buy another car riddled with bugs and then have the feeling that I have been abandoned.
My feelings exactly. In a few years when I'm buying a new truck, if @Ford Motor Company leaves us '22/'23 owners in the dust, my next vehicle will not be a Ford.

Fix Pro Power Onboard so I don't have to run my truck all night
Give us walk away lock
Put zone lighting back in the app

I thought this was fixed for newer Lightnings but certainly not for my 2023. You are so right, it makes no sense to have the truck "on" for all the reasons you stated just to use PPO. I once left my truck "on" for 4 days after an extended power outage. @Ford Motor Company please fix this issue.

It would be nice to be able to activate the PPO from the FordPass app without "starting" the truck.

PPO is turning off after about 10 minutes even if I put the slider on “power when off.” When turning off the truck I get a message that this feature (PPO?) can’t be used when truck is off. If I press the green on/off button in the bed, nothing happens. So confused.

Do you have a constant load on the power?
Try unlocking the truck then pressing the green button. There is a section in the manual that explains the green button and key fob.

The minimum load is not in the manual.

Yes, I have this feature on my 2024 Flash. I think it is keeping my freezer on when I park at the food store or Costco, etc. but I'm having a bit of trouble giving it a good trial. For example, today on the 15" screen I turned the slider on to keep Propower on when I turn off the truck. Then I remembered I wanted to turn on the walk away lock feature (I turn that off when I'm home) so I turned the truck back on to set that. Then I forgot to set the slider again. Seems like it would be a better system to have the power stay on at least in the cab until one turns it off again. I guess it's easy enough to start the vehicle again but so many times I've had to do this.

Having said that, now I have had several instances where I came back after pressing that slider to keep the power on and it was off. This last time I was about 79 ft. from the truck when I remembered to lock it. So I took out the key Fob and locked it. When I came back the freezer was off again. I wonder if locking the truck can make the PPO go off. I checked it when I walked off and it was on.

Yes, this thread has conflated two different issues. The original issue was that: In order to run PPO you have to leave the truck turned on, started and "running" the whole time of use (at least on the 22's & 23's)! This is frustrating, irritating, and a waste of precious electrons. Who came up with this? Hopefully this will be fixed in an update.

The other, and completely separate issue (not sure how this got in here) is that: PPO turns off after a period of time if there is not a load of about 100W or more.....hard to run a refrig etc.!

Another point, to run something in the frunk while closed, my system said it would not work if over 175W.

I think someone came up with a timer controlled 200W heater that kicked on every 5 minutes for a few seconds to avoid PPO from shutting off due to an insufficient load.

I wonder if a quick surge from a small motor kicking on would do the same?

Annoying that the Instrument Panel light stays on when not needed continuously. The center panel can be turned off for my 22 XLT.

Just hope the people in charge of the team will listen. I worked for a couple of software companies and it felt like "once you own the product, it's your problem" ... I hope this isn't the same sort of .thing.
