Hello everyone, I just picked up a 24' Flash and am loving it so far. I do however need to get more info on charging because the dealership gave me absolutely no information regarding the truck. I'm taking over a lease on the truck a gentleman had that has moved to the US.
I bought a Tesla Wall Connector, got it hooked up and have it connected to my Tesla app. When I plug the truck into the charger i can see the truck sears for the cable and then eventually get a charging default error. Do you think it's a problem with my adapter? It has Ford written on the side so it's not a cheap adapter. I've read that some adapters work specifically for the Tesla Wall Connector and others are designed for the Tesla Superchargers. I do see in the Ford App that some Tesla Superchargers are not compatible with the Lightning.
If anyone can offer any insight or tips to both home charging, the correct adapters etc, I would really appreciate it. Thanks

There are two versions of the adapter. One for DC fast charging, and one for level 2. Sounds like you are trying to use the DCFC version on Level 2. This will not work. To my knowledge , Ford only produced adaptors with their name on it for DCFC. I recommend you go to the company A2Z for the level 2 adapter.l, though many people use Lectron. Stay away from cheap adapters on Amazon or similar. This is something you want to stay with known good quality. Not worth the risk to your truck or home for a few dollars.

A Tesla Home Charger requires an adapter, which is not the same adapter as a Tesla SuperCharger.

Tesla SuperCharger adapter by A2Z. Top quality. Typhoon Pro.

Tesla Destination charger adapter by A2Z. Stellar adapter. Even then, some Tesla Destination chargers may be set to Tesla only, and the owner has to change that setting.

Use code FORDFORUM.

A2Z is a Canadian company.

You want the Stellar or Stellar Pro adapter not the Typhoon.

Also, check out @tommolog YouTube channel called State of Charge for some of the best info about all things charging related including in depth charger reviews. He has content about the A2Z adapters as well.

i use the Tesla wall charger. You need to get a special adapter from A2Z to use it. It costs around $100 and I have had no issues at all.

One more thing to add. There are older versions of the Tesla wall charger that won't work. They don't use the required communication protocols. If you bought a new one from Tesla, then this is a non issue. But if you bought an older used wall Tesla EVSE, it could potentially be a problem.
