If anyone is trying to install staging-3.0 tonight, github seems to be doing stupid stuff. If the software hangs at the comma logo, do a factory reset and install it again. At least 3 of us have had that happen, and it worked the second time despite doing nothing different.

I used to wonder why everyone complained so much, I didn't find mine that hard to install. Then I worked on 2022 F150 and something changed in the dash, it's a way tighter fit than my 2021, and I compeltely understand the complains now.

Are people taking apart the dash to plug into the black harness on the IPMA? It's tucked up there behind the OBD2 connector pretty good.

I did not. But it can be done. I’ve got big hands and it was a bitch! But I was able to get my meat nuggets up there and get it unplugged. I unplugged the grey connector which helped. Cut the shit out of my hand but it’s in now.

I can confirm everything @astrand1 wrote is accurate....

I did take off the snap-on panel on the side of the dash where the side window vent is. Start pulling that off from the bottom and patiently move up to release all of the clips without breaking everything.

You still need 5 small hands and to stand on your head while your kid tries to hold a flashlight and your glasses fall off while trying to pry the little f&#@+r out of the socket. That alone took about 30 minutes.

My comma3x is stuck on the large comma boot up screen. I uninstalled blue pilot 2.1, then installed 3.0. After 3.0 finished, it said it needed to update. I clicked the proceed and that seemed to successfully go through its process too. On the reboot, it just sticks on the comma screen. The 3x does not seem to have any physical buttons on it, is there any way to force a reboot? I've tried unplugging for about 5 minutes and plugging it back in but it's still sticks on the comma screen. Google searches have come up empty.

There is something wierd goign on with the 3.0 update. Everyone seems to have to do it twice. I think it has to do with order of operations in the OS update.

Unplug it, wait 30 seconds, plug it back in and tap the screen while it is booting, that will trigger a factory reset

The problem is that the OS must be installed before the fork. When you install it using the URL, it installs the fork, sees you need an OS upgrade, and then applies that. So then it is stuck. Installing a second time installs the fork, and the OS is already installed, so you are good.

Just watched your video on YouTube with 3.0 question. Will this just come up as an available update when I go into settings or do I have to go to a specific address to download? Also just a quick critique of your video. Can you get a better mic? I had to turn up the volume to hear you and then the music you had in the background was way too loud. Other than that was a great video. (I was watching on a tv) not a phone. lol. So in future releases is it possible that comma can make a full turn in a ford vehicle? Curious. Reason I ask is because my 23 lightning has the auto park feature and the few times I’ve tried it just for fun it will turn the wheel almost full lock and make a turn to back into a space which makes me think the vehicle is theoretically capable of turning the wheel but maybe a different system?

the signals for parking maneuvers are blocked by Ford above 9mph, which is way too slow for making a turn. Most turns happen at 15-24 mph. I don’t think F150/Lightning will ever get full turns at intersections.

Uninstall from the "software menu"

when it reboots, use the custom URL:

installer.comma.ai/BluePilotDev/staging-3.0

If it hangs at the boot logo, then power cycle and tap the screen during boot up until it asks if you want to factory reset. Choose yes and repeat the install.
