The OTA process can 100% update the IPMA. It updates the module faster than FDRS does and there is algorithm is has to pass to verify the 12v battery is in a healthy enough state for the OTA to install to avoid problems.

Please note there are two version of the BC 1.4 update: One that updates the firmware and another one that is wifi only that enables the features themselves. The one that enables the features is very quick in comparison to the one that updates the software. What the dealer did was the OTA equivalent of the one that writes the software but does not enable the config for lane change etc.
Yep and thanks for confirming, but I wanted to address what @potato had brought up and the fact that if they would do them OTA then we don't even have the concerns of battery issues and the processes are already in place. We all should have had this by January at the latest - a 3 month roll out is acceptable in my book. They could have even slipped a newer version of code in to fix the black box on the '22's if they had wanted half way through.

IPMA has ethernet. So it is MUCH faster via OTA than FDRS. I dont know why the IPMA cant be updated via USB in FDRS but it would be much faster if it was possible.

The rest of the modules are not large updates. TCU, Gateway, APIM, IPMA, IPC all are ethernet.

Just had the update done, rear camera view is smaller with additional buttons.
Is this normal for ‘22 Lariat?
Dealer unaware and not able to explain. Anybody have a photo of what it’s supposed to look like?

Do you have a black box around the camera image? The camera is smaller with the update but should not have the black box if the tech followed directions. If your image looks like the below, send them the bulletin from the op and tell them to learn to read.

Top is pre update and bottom post software update. The buttons on the left give different camera views, some of which might be useful when towing.
I think I’m okay.

Had this done, 2023 LER, and now adaptive cruise automatically turns on lane centering. I’ve togged the hands free off in the driver assistance menu. Still love the truck…

Yep. Huge annoyance. Especially since there is a setting specifically under Cruise Control where Lane Keeping is set to OFF. But it still turns on.

It's bordering on a safety issue since it requires a lot more attention to find the small lane keeping button and then confirm that it is off, since the on/off status on the instrument cluster are almost identical. You have to take your eyes (and mind) off the road for a lot longer than before where you could just hit the big easy to find button with your thumb.

My favorite is the repeated "Keep Hands on the Steering Wheel" messages when all of that stuff (Lane Keeping, BlueCruise, everything) is completely turned off, and I'm cruisin into town on a long straight stretch...with my hands on the wheel.

So if you're not driving down the road having spasmodic seizures every ten seconds the truck bitches you out.

Invoice for mobile service for this was $756. With all the updates to the OTA process, I am surprised Ford still can't save money on this. Probably because of 12V Battery. Mine was hooked up to his ICE battery the entire time but still dropped 50%.

I'm surprised the tech didn't bring along a proper power supply for the updates, I have my own thanks to the warnings from those in the know here.

Not the first time and probably won't be the last. There are apparently quite a few techs that don't follow directions and have killed the battery.

I didn't have to pay a cent for having it done at my dealer. I also got a free replacement battery as the update trashed my LVB, probably due to the use of an inadequate power supply. I mentioned trashing the LVB in a follow-up Ford survey, and Ford must have gotten back to the dealer, as the CSR was on probation when I showed up to get the LVB replaced, and was hopping mad at me. He said he was in danger of losing his job. The truck had been handed back to me initially with an almost dead LVB, going into battery saver mode constantly.
