Happy to get BC1.4 today on my 24 flash 1 year anniversary. Got home at 10:14 pm and plugged in just in case it required the anticipated 90 minute upload time..even though I had 87% on my hvb.

Noticed the charger stopped / complete at 11:50 pm 96 minutes to hit my 95% charge setting. The update didn't actually start until my set time of 11:55 pm. So in the 96 minutes the most important could have put into my truck would be approx 8.5 kw per hour. Let's just call it 13 kwh total.

But checking my total charge after the upgrade that started at 11:55 pm, I'm showing that my total charge of 35.7 kwh minus the 13 for the original hvb charge gives me roughly 22.7 kwh unaccounted for or used for the OTA BC 1.4 update.

Is it that much processing power to do an OTA update?
Where did it all go.

As you can see from my screen shot, I was fully charged to 95% target at 11:50pm. With a start time at 10:14 pm.

No wonder they claim the truck should be plugged in for updates.

No, it might have screwed up the charging record, seen it happen before, it'll happen again.

Its been my eperience that our trucks are sometimes bad at math. I wish I would have screenshotted it, but my truck said the other day that it added over 200KWh in one session. When I look in the charge history, it is not there. So it must be a weird occasional anomaly just on the main screen.

I'd double check it with your EVSE logs.

Agree. Your charge record is hosed somehow. You said you charged to 95% before the update. What was your SOC this morning? Seriously doubt it dropped to 70.

The soc is 95% that should have used approx 13 kwh for the 33 miles it needed to top off to 95%. But it's now shows 63.2 Kwh consumed at 6:25 am.

If you're using the FCSP, it's energy log should show an accurate measurement of kWh used after unplugging.

So after all this data that I posted with literally 3 hours of combined sleep, I went out to the charger at 6:36am to unplug the truck, feel the cord for heat and check my kwh meter dongle.

You're correct. The Ford app was all over the place. It's now a total of 14kwh as shown on the new screen shot. What's also interesting is the ford app showed 257 mile range, but the dash display shows 260 mile range. You would think the 2 sync to each other?

Another question. If i don't pay the 49.00 monthly bc 1.4 . Will the truck still perform like 1.4 for the 12 seconds that I can let go of the wheel?
Has anyone actually read all the pages of disclaimers you need to sign off on to accept the terms for BC1.4.
I guess if you don't accept the terms, you cant buy the monthly service. But what exactly does it say with literally dozens and dozens of pages on a phone screen.

It says if BC causes a wreck and/or if you think it causes a wreck they are not liable in any way. It's a shame they have to cloud that simple disclaimer with pages of BS.

Also, the IPMA takes hours to update, all while the DCDC has to keep the 12V alive with over 50A of power. So, while the update itself doesn't use a lot of power, keeping the truck fully powered does.

You're correct. The Ford app was all over the place.
When there is a big change in the initial claim and the final resolution, I always appreciate when the OP edits the first post, including title, to basically say "I only had 3 hours of sleep when I posted all the following charts and graphs and it turns out the BC OTA did NOT in fact use 20% of my battery".

Otherwise searches and AI start spewing the initial claim as fact.
