I was wondering if anybody out there knows if ford plans to put camera activation in the mobile app or is that even possible I used to use that feature alot on my model 3. I kinda miss it , but trading it in for my LR Lightning Lariat still was one of the best things I ever did.

Extremely unlikely. Ford's module system is a bunch of little computers sort of working together. Tesla has a small number of computers running everything. Trying to get a whole bunch of computers to work together is much more difficult than telling one computer to do something. If it's possible I doubt it's high on Ford's priority list.

I'm not an engineer. I just read stuff on the internet. The above information is my understanding and probably wrong.

Exact answer is no, this is not a feature Ford has ever mentioned or eluded to. Reality answer is also not a chance. Ford's app development team is two interns and a lead that has never used and app or owned a car. Expect literally nothing. When you get something, it will be a surprise and probably broke.

I don't feel like Ford has any real incentive to do this. It would likely take a massive capital investment to build that out, and people are buying their EVs without it, so I doubt they'll do that.

I'd love it, though.

I had cameras in my 2003 Dodge Ram that I traded in for my Lightning. I will be putting the cameras in my Lightning.

I got a Blackvue DR970X-2CH LTE Plus that's hardwired into the fuse panel and has a SIM card.

I can view the front and the bed of my truck from my phone anywhere anytime.

No. Ford views the app as a fancy key fob, just an afterthought, a fancy option. Not an integral part of the vehicle's interface like buyers expect in 2025.

I appreciate everybody's input I didn't realize it's so difficult for Ford, Tesla makes it look so easy , I suppose we have what's necessary, I Love my Lightning with or without it, thanks again to all who replied

Tesla has a major software advantage. I think Jim Farley appreciates why the younger generation is so enamoured with tesla. it's really nothing to do with the cars themselves. it's all about software integration. ps5 level GPU under the hood. no monthly fee for the app. constant software updates which lead to improvements in everyday living with the vehicle. video games, built in dash cams. The vehicles know exactly what's going on at the superchargers in real time.

I'm expecting the T3 truck to follow teslas lead in a software driven vehicle.

do NOT expect any Tesla like features with the current lightning. its simply not capable.

Ford can't get the basics out, NO - we'll never see camera viewing on the app, you'll never even see it in the truck. I don't truly know the specs of the Sync system - but it is the bare minimum. It's slow and laggy as it is.

Tesla has 3 main computers - left, right and the center. That center is actually a pretty good beast - even from 2017 when they first made the Model 3, then the 2 upgrades they've made along the way. Plus they don't have the worry of CarPlay and AA getting in the way.

I know and remember Sentry wasn't available when the 3 was released, recording was added, then enhanced, then could save with a honk, and now fully viewable and downloadable to your smart phone.

The truck has been nice, but every time you drive it you'll be amazed at the step back you are taking with the technology.
