ECU module programming guide using FDRS

Well, now the IPMA failed took 2.5 hours!-?
Fluctuated between 13.1 and 13.2 V for the whole 2 1/2 hours so not the power supply!
Gave me the same weird error as yesterday??? maybe something to do with FDRS 42.5.10?

Did the IPMA update come off the list in SW updates tab? If so, turn off the truck and let it sit for 20 minutes. Restart the laptop, run FDRS and click the IPMA module to bring up the list of guided routines you can do on it. Run the IPMA config procedure.

I think it was still there. It went on to try to do the next update(when I started it said it was multi module or something to that effect), but I canceled it. It was about to start raining and cold so I figured I was done for the day.

I believe it does it in about half the time, yes. However, for the difference in price, the Mongoose and 3 hours is just fine by me. lol

I actually had a chance to use VCM3, twice, about a year ago. It is wayyy faster than half the time. Not "light speed fast" but really really fast compared to the Mongoose.

But imho as fast as the VCM3 is, it still doesn't justify its idiotically high price for us normal non-millionaire mortals.

So… what is the opposite of no faults???

Drove the truck to work and everything was fine and when I got home to redo the IPMA and hooked up to FDRS this is what I found
Apparently, only the module configuration failed? Cleared all the faults and luckily did not have to sit through 2 1/2 more hours. It took about 2 1/2 minutes to redo the module configuration and automatically started the power steering control module.

That one finished and it popped up a gateway module which required the USB that is in process now!

still at least a couple more to go, but at least we are moving forward. Just thought I would update in case others run into this.

Well the gateway module configuration failed as well:

I don’t remember, but I think I just hit yes and it went through the second time (if not, then I hit no and went and re-scanned the network and then it went through fine)it is only when it gets to the module configuration that it is failing kind of weird so that is why I question if it has to do with this version of FDRS?
Now onto another APIM could it be karaoke….

Is this the best thread for using and learning FDRS? I have bought the Clore power supply and the Opus Mongoose.

I want to make sure I install the right software on my computer in the right order and ensure I do all the modules in the right order.

Will I be able to see anything before I buy the FDRS License or is the License required to even read the module statuses?

The Mach-E and Lightning work the same way fundamentally so most info applies to both vehicles.

Final update on the latest round of updates….
Basically every module gave me the same error code, and I had to go back in and try it again and then it would go through! GWM two or three tries, but finally went through after cycling the truck on and off a couple times…
So I am now up-to-date with karaoke to boot

Yes this is the best thread for learning.
Probably some YouTube videos out there as well, but I don’t know for sure on that.

I don’t think you will be able to see anything until you have a license but if you DM your vin to @rugedraw I think he can pull it up on oasis or if you DM me I can pull it up on FDRS.

I know I have 13 modules with updates and a low 12V battery.

According the Rotunda advertising blurb for the VCM3, an IPMA update takes 50+ minutes compared to the 2.5 hrs for a VCM2 (or a Mongoose). I use a VCM3 and it is faster overall than the Mongoose.

I think this must have been released yesterday because at least one other member found this and did the update already. I had it pop up in my available list this morning, a new IPMA/PSCM combo (along with the "usual suspects", the ACM and RFA).

It's raining here, and will do so for the next several days apparently, so I may not get to this update until Thursday.

Yeah, I still have that APIM GVMS warning. It may be related to me enabling glare-free (adaptive) headlights...which I won't apologize for. They're awesome, out here in the woods especially!
