So yesterday was a 90 degree day. I drove about 10 miles for some errands. Parked for about 30 minutes. When I came back and turned truck on the temperature gauge for the electric motor (the one on the right not the battery temp gauge) was yellow and I got a message “electric motor temp high reduced performance”. I did not notice any reduced performance and I had 100% of my available power. I went easy on it to be safe. Once I got on the freeway and started moving faster the guage slowly went down, back into the blue section and eventually settled at its normal point. Haven’t seen any posted about this and am hoping it was just a sensor glitch. Anyone else had this happen?

Yes that’s the first thing I checked. It was within normal range. No issue today. Took it on a 120 mile round trip all freeway

Could be a sensor or wiring, do you have max tow?

I'd bring it in to at least do a visual inspection of the oil level in the motor and coolant degassing bottle.

I don’t think I have the max tow package. It’s a 2023 lariat extended range battery and it does have all the smart tow features on the dash, but I never use it. I really like this truck a lot. Have had minimal issues except the dreaded power train failure which ended up being one of the batteries. Luckily for me the dealer in my area diagnosed and fixed it in 5 days. I’m chalking this up to a sensor issue for now but if it happens again I’ll take it in. Problem is I use this truck for my business and it is a huge inconvenience for me to take it in even if it’s for a few days.

Ok. Thanks for all the replies and tips. I will investigate further. I’ve really enjoyed this forum as it has provided me with a wealth of information about the truck. This is the first vehicle I’ve bought where the dealer really didn’t tell me anything when I bought it.

Sounds more like the software bug. Why would your motor get hotter while the truck was off and sitting there for 30 minutes?
