I'll try to find the article to dig in and understand their research.

The comments below the article are, as usual, gold (plated plastic). Especially amusing is the claim that tires pollute much more than tailpipe emissions, and EVs are heavier and have more torque, so EVs pollute more than gas suckers.

If particulates were the only pollution (so carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, oxides of nitrogen, unburned hydrocarbons, sulfur dioxide, etc. didn't exist or didn't matter), then they might have a point. As it is, they have a convenient "narrative." Alternative Facts are always with us; might as well laugh.

Even that isn't really much of a narrative. There are plenty of examples of tires lasting just as long as those on ICE. I wore down tires waaaay faster when I had my Honda S2000.

Funny how people assume EVs are cleaner because they aren't putting the fossil fuel nozzle into their vehicle directly, forgetting all along that they're still putting fossil fuels into their vehicle.

Anyhow, I drive a lot of hilly, curvy roads here in Kentucky. And while the regenerative braking DOES help slow the truck down at times, I don't find that it's significantly more than the gas and diesel trucks I've had. Those also had great engine braking. So.. I don't find that I'm "off the brake pedal" more with this truck really, and therefore I don't understand how the brake pads are going to last twice as long or produce "80% less dust".

But, we'll see. It's only got 700 miles on it.

When you first engage the brake pedal in the Lightning it does not immediately engage the physical brakes, it engages the regenerative braking. So unless you are braking hard/fast, the brake pads are not being utilized to stop the vehicle for most of the slowdown/stop.

It was on when I took delivery of the truck. I just personally hate it. Cannot stand 1PD.
I don't care for it either but that's how you get maximum regenerative braking.

31,000 km since January, (19,375miles) - every Monday I drive to a near-by City for work related stuff. I have made a new habbit of shifting to N and using the friction brakes as I slow down from Hwy speed to city traffic speed...so my friction brakes come on AT ALL once a week...I love 1PD.

This is a good point. We may be more at risk of brakes needing service due to lack of use.
