Hello guys. Guess I need to do this for the glare free headlights and the other 3 mentioned in post above.

My question is regarding the odb dongle. The odblink ex is 60 bux and the vgate vlinker fs odb2 is 30 bux. Just wondering if the 60 buck one has any advantages that makes it worth 30 more bux over the other one? Thanks.
I'd go for the OBD EX. Quality avoids a lot of weird problems.

I have the vlinker fs - it works fine never had any problems, and its one of the 2 reccomended ones along with the OBD EX. I have even sideloaded module updates with it and that worked great as well.

For a period of time earlier this year the vLinker FS was not recommended due to stability issues and poor support. You can read about it here. But they have resolved it by releasing a new version and as you noted it is recommended again. If I were buying first time I still would go with OBDLink EX. But since you already own the vLinker, stay with it - just be aware past versions may have had issues.

To recap:
2025 Platinum Build date 2/25 (likely Job 1) has sticky drive modes
2025 Flash Build date 6/25 (likely Job 2) does not.

We're gonna need more data :)

See later posts. The behavior above is likely explained by a 4-hour timer,
I have read that this was a bug in early 2025s and should be “fixed” with updates.
Consider it "fixed". I have received quite a few updates since this original post but as of now, Slippery Mode did NOT stick overnight last night and notified on startup this morning that it was going back to Normal Mode did I want to stay in Slippery Mode.

I haven’t read the whole thread but the first post here says it is sticky up to 4 hours when truck is turned off, then reverts.

Wonder if that explains the behavior @MDErnst and @WXman see.

I just downloaded the forscan for windows from the first few posts here in this thread in anticipation of buying the dongle. Just wanted to first see if my computer had room to run it since it doesn't have much room in the C drive. I loaded to a different drive but have tried to actually run it yet and start using my 2 months time.

However I got a network security issue. It came up with what it called a low security threat and I accepted it. I'm hoping it is nothing bad. Here it is: PUA:Win32/Pacunwun

Please advise.

Where did you download and what antivirus do you have installed? Are you absolutely certain that the popup wasn't one of those dumb ads.

I ordered from forscan for windows that bmwhitetx has listed in post #2 of this thread by clicking on that website. Security software is the standard microsoft security that comes with windows 10 and I probably have it set for medium or so security level. So it would be the Microsoft virus software.

I am looking to buy a new laptop with windows 11 sometime this month as a Christmas present for myself since microsoft is discontinuing updates for windows 10 this month. Don't know if that will have an affect on anything with the new computer or the odblink EX adapter I ordered that is coming in on Tuesday.

edit. I googled it and it is some type of adware and change browser settings and add start up files and slows the system. It could be a legitimate part of forscan but I went ahead and had it removed. Will see if Forscan still works.

Weird. I went to VirusTotal.com and gave it the link (https://forscan.org/download/FORScanSetup2.3.68.release.exe) and it said it was clean and and last analyzed by them 24 days ago. I requested a re-analysis and still clean.

Next I downloaded it to my PC and then ran a VirusTotal scan on the file now on my PC (which uploads to VirusTotal) and it gave a couple of warnings. So I ran Win11 Microsoft Defender on it and it was clean.

So I downloaded an older release 2.3.65 from Feb '25 and it was clean both online and downloaded. I searched briefly on the FORScan forums and found this about 2.3.68.

All of this was done on my desktop Win11 machine.

I have Win11 on a 4-year old Dell laptop and FORScan runs fine with both my OBDLink EX wired adapter and OBDLink MX BT dongle. But I am running a much older release (2.3.64). You can download older releases here if you are concerned about this one. Note since you have a 2025, at some point the older releases did not support 2025's yet. Somewhere there is a discussion about which release started to support the 2025 Lightnings.

Based on the simplicity of the forscan site I'm gonna go ahead and assume they aren't using FB's React which currently holds a perfect 10/10 CVSS, next thing I'd check is your DNS server just to be safe, but it's likely a false alarm.

My recent mods on 25 Flash Job 1:
Glare Free headlights - working, required AB mode
Disabled door ajar chime- working
Disabled Vehicle Power Down Timer reset-working
Disabled startup 3 chimes - working
Set seat belt chime to European style
Enabled BeoSonic - working
Disabled Full View message in Drive at speed
Enabled more camera views - working
Enabled Off-Road mode
Enabled Off-Road cameras at speed
Enabled Silent Mode - working
Enabled reversing turns down mirrors - couldn't get this work in Easy Mode, removed setting
Enabled Auto Air Refresh
Enabled 50/50 view at speed
Enabled PIP views at speed
Enabled Cross Traffic Alert - testing with trailer brake connector light later
Enabled Bambi mode - just to see the setting. Reset AB. No fog lights yet.
Enabled Perimeter alarm with Reduced Guard Control Function - selections don't save
Enabled reverse brake assist
Sped up power frunk and tailgate one notch - working
Enabled Windows remote close
Enabled Global Windows close - not working
Getting a couple DTC's that won't clear

I used Easy mode and AB mode for different things like AB Mode the only way I could get Glare Free icon to appear.

I have not tested all of these in usage like Off-Road, etc but super happy with the changes I have. Super easy if you follow the posted tutorials.

Thanks to this thread and all those who contributed!

Only issues so far is when I click Off-Road setting button here the screen freezes in camera views.
Sync reset to get back to normal

Update: plugged in led brake light from Amazon to trailer pin to see if I could activate Cross Traffic Alert. Setting now selectable but reverts after a few seconds. Menu prompts that it recognizes trailer connected (led brake light), I set to No trailer it setting and no more notifications (trailer connected) after I disabled them in Forscan.

Enabled Exit Warning setting - now selectable but reverts back after a few seconds
Enabled Rear Traffic Assist. Haven't tested it.

Thank you. Now I have a list to work from when my dongle gets here on Tuesday.

Is there a way I can make the backup chime louder? With the animals we have running around here and sometimes underneath, guess I'd save a lot of grief and vet bills with a louder chime and I know someone will say to wake up the neighbors by honking the horn but not always an option. Guess the louder chime may help for somebody or kid approaching behind or a vehicle parked behind in the walmart parking lot before I get my alarm since I park up by the front door in the handicapped parking.

Could we add these to the first post?

I would like to apply them as well.

I would like to know if there is a way we can add a hack to record the camera views such as adding a memory device in somewhere, etc.? I know they have a way of saving some of it like the last 60 seconds in case of an accident using blue cruise. They can save the eyesight camera during an accident with blue cruise as well so they can see what the driver was doing.
