I really don’t understand why Ford includes all these cool little things in the software, but does not make them active???
Any thoughts?

I can see my glare free matrix headlights working to block around oncoming traffic but they don’t seem like brights in the Green “A” auto lamps setting, do I need to pull the stalk until the blue brights indicator is on? Alternatively is the matrix feature fairly lackluster? I’m just not sure if it’s working as intended, I think I liked the original auto high beam better.

No, the blue indicator is non-adaptive high beams. Just old school always on high beams.

When driving on an empty road try engaging the regular high beams (push the stalk forward iirc). There should be no difference between that and your glare-free high beams (they are the same).

The Ford glare free lights do perform some dimming and as a result it can sometimes seem like the old high/low offers better results simply from the big difference between the two. You will notice that if one of the segments dimming the while light dims a little, and once all segments go to high beam the whole high beams brightens up a little.

Ultimately I think your glare free lights are working, and my guess is they are just as good. It's just that the on/off of the old high beams makes it more dramatic that the high beams are on and that is contributing to the feeling you have. If I had to guess.

I think many of them are not on our trucks because of Ford Legal. They alter the vehicle in a way that doesn't match country-specific rules (glare-free) or may be considered unsafe (chimes, full view warning, DRL brightness, tire size, HSW temp, etc.).

Some aren't perfect like Lincoln mirrors as they have bugs and aren't made for our particular model.

But a few would indeed be welcome (Silent Mode, Beosonic). Maybe they have bugs we haven't discovered. ?‍

Yep for sure. I was looking at the spreadsheet values as well and they seem to match

I'm definitely not comfortable enough to start messing with different values. I guess I will wait to see if any other 24 Flash owners have this issue or not.

Easiest way is to look at trims downward, not upward. Over simplification below, but the point stands.

Ford determines if a feature is valuable for a specific trim, model, location, etc. Easy one is the special audio stuff in the besonic (sp?) in the Platinum. If they feel that such a feature will help sell that vehicle (the Platinum) or is expected, then they can go to work designing that feature. The important part is that it is designed for that trim.

After the feature is designed, then the bean counters determine if it is better to have individual hardware for the trims, or to share hardware. It may not be cost effective to have separate sound components, it may cost MORE to have different parts, different part numbers, inventory, assembly line processes, etc, than it is to just put that hardware everywhere but not enable it. Put simply, if the hardware price difference is ten cents per vehicle, but the logistics cost of having different parts is eleven cents per vehicle, then it's cheaper to use the same hardware.

So why not include it on the lower trims? Because that specific function helps differentiate between trims. To go to extremes to highlight the point, It might be cheaper for Ford to only manufacture trucks like the Platinum, one hardware configuration. But if you got every feature of a Platinum by buying an XLT, why would anyone ever spend the money on a Platinum? I doubt Ford loses money on a Pro, and I highly doubt that the added features of a Platinum actually cost a WHOLE ADDITIONAL TRUCK to add in, so high end trims have to be huge profit centers. You would ruin yourself if your XLT was actually close to a Platinum.

Finally got to really test out glare free last night and it is pretty cool, but it was really freaking out when I went through a construction zone and there were reflectors on the concrete barriers along the side of the road. It would turn on and then see the reflection and turn back off, kind of hood high on the driver side.

From what I have seen the flickering is actually the truck testing if it is seeing it's own light.

All it is doing is looking for a bright white or red light with the camera above the mirror, from there it correlates the location of that light to the headlight and shuts that segment off. For dim lights, or most reflections, the amount of light isn't enough to trigger the system. However on occasion the reflection is just bright enough. When it's close the light seems to pulse, and if the pulse it sees is similar to what it sent out then it just goes full bright again.

I noticed this on a long roadtrip. It would light up the road signs and it would dim the light. But then it would go full bright again, dim again, and then go full bright and stay there.

I have the same experience. It’s “cool” but with oncoming traffic, just seems like low beams all around. Then when it’s clear it slowly turns on high beams.

This might be the dumbest post of the day, but I just realized the Forscan licensing quirk that might be worth publishing.

A year ago, Forscan would email you the two-month activation key after making the request on their website. I sat waiting most of the day yesterday to receive the email but nothing came through. I decided to read the webpage where the request gets made and noticed this key phrase;

" The Extended License key will NOT be sent by email. Instead, you will be able to download the license key on this page as soon as the generation process is completed, by reloading the result page or by resubmitting the form using the same data. "

So, just stay on the webpage after making the request, and keep clicking refresh.

Has anyone been able to get all the cameras available at speed? I made the FORSCAN changes, making sure to not disable 1pd, but I just have these.
