Hello,
I've recently been seeing a low-pressure warning. The tire pressures fluctuate between 34 and 36 psi. The truck originally came with nitrogen. Is it okay to fill the tires with regular air, or should I find a place that offers nitrogen to top them off? Also, what pressure should I aim for? Thanks!

42 psi cold minimum.

Filling with air is no problem.

Nitrogen is not a scam but not really necessary unless you want less moisture inside your wheels and the pressure to be more stable during temperature changes.

@RLXXI is misinformed. There is a reason nitrogen is used for high performance wheel assemblies.

Race cars use it for temperature reasons. There is no good reason for personal vehicle use, you are grossly misinformed.

I try to look at things logically. First your tire says on the side max AIR pressure cold, not max nitrogen. I haven't seen a recommendation from a tire manufacturer that was different.

When the Lightning first came out the Lariats in particular had to get an update to the BCM either by a tech at the dealership or eventually an OTA that adjusted the tire pressure alert level because it had been set wrong in the asbuilt data by the factory. I think that was one of the first posts I made back in July of 2022 dealing with doing updates. Here's my original post.

Check the IPC tire pressure display where it says what the value is supposed to be and then compare that with what your door sticker says. If it's not the same, see your dealer because that was a safety recall when it came out.

There is a way to adjust it with FORScan as well since it's a simple asbuilt change.
