First one to charge at the NEW Rivian Charger station at the NC Outer Banks Mall!

Happened to be charging-up at the Tesla array right across the parking lot from the brand new (commissioned late last night) Rivian chargers!!

I unhooked my truck, drove across the lot, and promptly pulled-through the far one of the six brand new chargers and it worked perfectly.

Only a year ago we were nearly stranded in what was the nearly a charging desert, and now we have some great choices!

I'm so glad I have yet another alternative.

Nice. Was still blocked off when I was up there a couple weeks ago. Definitely moving on up in the world with the v4 stalls down in Avon. Sure beats when I went this time last year and the Superchargers weren't even working. Had to limp to a Duck Thru gas station in Columbia that had Evconnect

I wish Rivian had put them in Corolla instead. Rivian wants to emphasize off road “adventures” and you need to use about 70 miles of range round-trip just to get to the 4WD section north of Corolla.

I did the same thing last year. Drove all the way to Duck Thru just to top up. Mucho better!

The OBX drive has become a lot less stressful for EV owners in the last year. This is more good news. My life will be complete if the MBA and EE gods will agree to put an ultrafast charger all the way down in Hatteras Village where my drives and the road end.

Just yesterday I pulled into the Uptown Mall in Albuquerque and there were Tesla, EA and Rivian stations within 500 feet of each other. And the Rivian was open to other EVs. We are making progress.

BTW, the Tesla chargers were by far the cheapest - when I got there, 21¢/kW (membership price).

Yes. It’s a nice addition to the neighborhood. But that won’t stop me from seeking perfection in those things that make my life easier. First world problem.

The fast charging infrastructure south of Kitty Hawk to Avon is solid and relatively abundant. I no longer worry about running short.

We'd stay in an old log cabin structure:

It would leak like a sieve during the hurricanes!

In the 1960's they put siding on it.

Many fond memory and many a sunburn!

I was a skinny little pirate back then at age 8, lol.

Great to see the charger network growing there, but they need to spread them out a bit along the island. I wonder when WMT will get chargers.
