"Ford's decision to reopen order books for the F-150 Lightning while simultaneously raising prices is one of those moves that reveals a lot about where the EV market actually stands — as opposed to where the press releases suggest it is."

https://autos.yahoo.com/ev-and-future-tech/articles/f-150-lightnings-price-hike-212444256.html

I just went through the configure/build tool, much cheaper to build PRO today than when I ordered mine in 2022. The 131kwh battery is listed as a $6500 option, but didn't increase. It decreased when I chose the 123kwhr option by ~$2600.

Still listed as a model year 2025 however.
I Suspect they're building what they can and when they're gone... they're gone.

...or perhaps, keeping the production line alive, even if barely ticking over preserves options for the business (people, facility, technicians, engineers, etc.). We shall see.

they probably had enough parts still on hand to keep making them, and did the math and figured out they make more money assembling them and selling rather than writing them off as a business loss. It's all about the $$ at the corporate level.

Other than the article you linked to, I am not seeing any other press reports indica that the F150 Lightning is going back into production.

Hopefully, someone can corroborate (like maybe Ford Authority) or provide solid evidence that the story is false.

This is likely an outdated article I suspect. From what I understand, when Ford shut down Lightning production they back out and terminated of billions of dollars of supplier contracts. I’d be happy to be wrong here, but I think the Lightning remains “offline”.

I went to FORD.COM, looked up the electric vehicle offerings, then the Lightning, looked at the trims, then build & price tool, once customized, the only options are to search inventory not place a custom build for production.

I think they're just using the build tool to match existing inventory to customer desires.

From Perplexity:

What That Article Is Likely Referring To
The article’s framing — “Ford’s decision to reopen order books while simultaneously raising prices reveals a hard truth about the EV market” — reads as a retrospective think-piece using the Lightning’s rocky order history (2022–2023 price hikes) as a lens to analyze current EV market dynamics. The snippet doesn’t indicate new Lightning orders are open today.[autos.yahoo]
What’s Actually Happening Right Now (June 2026)
The situation hasn’t changed from what I outlined before:
• The all-electric Lightning is permanently dead — Ford ended production in late 2025[forbes +1]
• The 2026 model year was the last batch — Ford actually cut prices by up to $4,000 on those final 2026 units (STX starting at ~$63,345, Flash at $65,995, Lariat at $74,995) before closing things out[carsdirect]
• No new Lightning order banks are currently open for the pure BEV version[motortrend]

So that Yahoo piece is essentially using the Lightning saga as a case study for EV market commentary — not breaking news that Ford has reopened the order book. The BEV Lightning remains cancelled.

Did anyone actually get to buy the STX version though?

That's an old article, even though it's dated recently. You can still go on Ford's website and go through the build process, but it just notifies a dealer so they can sell what's left in their inventory.
