I've been seeing the chatter in this thread and wanted to jump in with an update after speaking with internal teams to understand roll out.

The team has been working on this, and I can confirm a software update is currently rolling out that allows 2024 F-150 Lightning owners to route to compatible Tesla Superchargers using the in-vehicle Connected Navigation. For those of you with an adapter, this should make trip planning a whole lot easier.

Now, the key phrase here is "rolling out." As part of our standard process, we are rolling this software update out in batches, which means you and your friend with a 2024 F-150 Lightning could get this update at different times.

We are starting this rollout first to 2024 F-150 Lightning. Every vehicle line and model year is unique and requires a different software package. We will have more to share once a software update becomes available for other model years.
Once it rolls out is there any plan to extend the trial period? My three years ran out with over half of it being useless without Tesla integration. I have no intention of spending $80 to find out if it’s truly gotten better.

Any updates you can share for those of us with older trucks that still haven’t received the update? Thank you!
Having played with the newest version I can say from my limited access that it is the gold standard of EV routing. You can specify that you have a NACS connector and also put your preferred network in. The outcome is that you can have the truck route to Superchargers only (if you wish), and it will precondition the truck before stops. Works really well. In fact works as good as native Tesla routing in a Tesla. Ford software engineers did a really good job on this. Now the elephant in the room. Us 22’s and 23’s are locked out of the party. We have been not so patiently waiting for Ford to release for our trucks. After having played with it a bunch, this has to happen. It makes these trucks so much better. @Ford Motor Company any updates on this. Your customers are hungry for this software goodness.

It is really quite good, in the event that my parking brake doesn't engage and I run over my iphone, I'd trust it to drive me to the nearest Apple store.

I received the maps update in my 2024 Pro SSV with the small screen a couple of months ago. I was in the camp of "Ford maps is useless" but I must agree that the update is definitely better. I wouldn't use "Gold Standard" as there are still a few shortcomings...

Ford maps shows a local Tesla supercharger location as compatible with the NACS logo showing on the map instead of the ⛔ symbol. The problem is that this bank of superchargers is incompatible as shown in the Tesla app, ABRP, and PlugShare. I am curious if anyone else sees this as compatible in their Ford Maps:

Ford F-150 Lightning Ford Nav is better than ever! 1240

There is also a "open to all" Rivian charger in Forks, WA that still does not show on my Ford Map:

Ford F-150 Lightning Ford Nav is better than ever! 1242

Again, curious if anyone else is able to see this in their Ford Maps.

Two errors/omissions in my fairly rural local area makes me wonder about the overall accuracy of the update. On the positive side, Ford Maps sees and navigated me to the IONNA in Vancouver, WA this weekend, complete with some warming of the HVB before I arrived (verified with Carscanner). It also shows other Tesla chargers correctly in the more populated areas of my normal drives that I occasionally need to stop at.

Overall, I'll upgrade my original "do not use" rating of the Ford Maps to a 2/5 as I like the interface and simple colors better than the Android Auto map programs, but I still use ABRP paid version through Android Auto for the best accuracy and ease of planning and charging.

For best navigation in complicated urban areas, Google Maps is the "Gold Standard" but a recent bug that broke the distance to destination and pre-conditioning ability has knocked it down a notch.

You joke, but I did a bike ride last fall where my phone pin got pocket dialed enough to put me in login jail which means no CarPlay and no Google Maps. Ford Nav saved my bacon. Of course, it would be nice to have enough chargers we didn’t need routing software. That’s my dream for the future.

I was being quite serious, the nav is really quite good now, but I agree with @B177y that as good as it is gold standard is definitely an overstatement. As creepy as it is, even the mytrends is quite good.

Ford still has a Navigation system? 🤣😂

Literally only used it once last summer on a trip from near Burns to Bend and Apple Maps said I wouldn’t make it so I tried Nav to see what Ford thought I would get there with. 2%. So off we went!
