Any ideas on how to update the Ford NAV map system? We have new roundabouts and bypasses that make the system go a little berserk until I get back on the chosen highway. I have the 2022 Lightning.

The maps update periodically, I don't know of any way to force an update. On the Nav screen click Tools at the bottom and you can get to your map version. I am currently on NA 25.0.

I assume you have renewed your subscription since most 22's would be beyond the 3-year initial term. If your Nav has expired, the 2022's will revert to the maps that were there in 2022.

I'm on NA 6.0, so a lot of updating is due. I just bought this rig a couple months ago, so I need to figure out the subscription deal.

Yup, this may be why. From my understanding, you need an active subscription to have the updated maps.

Use GoogleMaps with Android Auto, instead of paying $80 a year.

Yeah NA 6.0 is the client, server is NA 25.

But you need to look at the Subscriptions for sure. On the Ford app go to the Vehicle tab (the first one), scroll to the bottom to Connected Services. Then click the button to browse them. Will show you status of BlueCruise and Connected Navigation.

This :poop: is ridiculous. I don't get stuck with maps based on when I bought my phone. They should at least stay to the last point updated, rather than revert to original installation date. Based on the OP's own point, construction changes could create a dangerous situation. This is why I will just continue to use Google/Apple maps instead of the Ford Nav. What a waste.

Map should not revert back to the original build date. It should be the last update before the subscription expired since payment had been made through the expiration of the subscription . Think of when the maps were CD cased - like in the Ford Fusion.

THis is not correct. That is not how these work.. whatever the INstalled maps are is what is displayed when no connected nav package.

I bought the 2022 Lightning with 10,000 miles on it and it was owned by a commercial company before me. I'm sure no one updated the maps. I think I'm good to go now. My previous vehicles were a Toyota and a Hyundai and their onboard navigation was rubbish. The Ford is much better...

Can confirm, I let my Nav subscription lapse for a few days on purpose to test this and the maps went back to 2022 base maps. Lots of new streets went missing including one we are building a house on. I then purchased Connected Navigation and the streets immediately came back.

That is an insane policy... Definitely won't waste my time getting use to a technology or waste my money investing in map updates that will just disappear one day. I just don't get Fords subscriptions... It's like they try so hard to make them uncompetitive and something you don't want. If that's the goal, they are doing a great job.

Rumor's are that Harley Davidson has a similar policy with it's newest infotainment system.

My 2024 Road Glide CVO-ST will be coming up on it's 2 years in service pre-paid period on 10/15, rumors on the RG forums say guys are losing current information only, base map is still fine.

I updated the maps manually east of the Mississippi, for future road trips, hopefully it sticks.

Ironically their e-commerce platform isn't offering a mechanism / path to pay the subscription forward of expiration.
