Just noticed this today... When navigating with Google Maps, the miles to destination always shows as zero. Also (and perhaps more important), it used to show a charger icon when I was navigating to a charger, but now it just shows the standard checkered flag icon so I must assume it's no long preconditioning for charging. Truck hasn't had any recent updates, but on my phone it looks like the Google Maps app was just updated on Jan 6. Perhaps they introduced a bug.

Side Note - Waze has always had this issue, where distance to destination shows 0.

I skimmed your posts to see what device you're on but didn't find it, would be helpful to know. Assuming Android so I won't be much help here, but check the built in nav to the same destination, could be a bug in communication with the truck. Could also try changing from wireless to wired or vice versa as applicable.

I have noticed the same issue. Currently I am on version 26.02.07.851972749 of com.google.android.apps.maps. It appears to have stopped working in the past several days as it was working correctly earlier this week. I am in the beta program for Google Maps on Android and have submitted a report of the issue.

I'm on the same version. I heard from someone who had the same issue and they were able to resolve by leaving the beta program. I am going to try that next and reinstall Google Maps.

Good to know exactly what broke it. I will wait it out and hope they resolve it during the beta. They just released another update, 26.02.10.851972749. I will check later today and report back if this resolves the issue.

This issue is back - and now I can't blame the Google Maps beta program. App was updated two days ago.

That is frustrating. What version are you on now. I wonder if the bug made it out beta and into the stable build.

Not sure what version I'm on, should be latest public release. I also noticed this a few days ago. I thought it was odd but hadn't taken any time to see if I can fix it. I just glance at the center screen to see how far I'm away. I can't imagine it stays that way for long.

I have been having the 0.0 as well. I was discussing it in a thread on the Mach-e forum here .

Currently on G-Maps ver 26.03.11.854872954 (non-beta) which was updated yesterday.

@blueovaltech on the Mach-e forum tested and said battery pre-conditioning was no longer working with cold temps since the 0.0 started with G-Maps.

I switched to using ABRP on Android Auto (paid subscription, ver 7.0) and it shows the miles in the instrument panel like normal, so this seems to be a Google Maps specific bug.

As a point of interest, my grandaughter took over the infotainment and Carplay worked normally.

I noticed a different but maybe similar thing yesterday. I had CarPlay with Apple Maps navigating. On the instrument cluster screen it showed the checkered flag and "60 miles", and up in the center it showed a Straight Arrow with 29 miles. Neither the distance nor the directions were correct and didn't change during the entire trip. Apple Maps on the main screen was showing correctly. I checked the Ford Nav and nothing was set there. I was not using Google Maps.

Ideas?

Next Day it was back to 'normal'. Displaying the distance to checkered flag and directions on the instrument cluster correctly.

I finally decided to roll back to the last stable build of Google maps that everything worked, version 25.49.13.838461706, after the most recent beta broke more things. After downloading the APK bundle, I used an app called "package manager" to uninstall the updates and install the APK bundle. The trip distance is restored and the other glitches are gone.

If anyone else wants to try this there are a couple of things to make note of.
  • Most, but not all of the settings in Google maps will be reset.
  • If you are using "timeline" make sure backup is enabled and has backed up recently.
  • Offline maps will need to be re-downloaded.
  • Make sure you download the APK bundle that is compatible with your device, there are at least 4 different versions for each build.
  • Disable Auto Update!!!
