Tonight I hit a bird and from what I can see the the dark, the only damage was the Front Trunk open button on the bottom of the grill dislodged and is floating inside the grill.

Does anyone have a link or advice on how to remove the grill so I can see if I can reposition the Fronk open button?

P.S. About an hour before hitting the bird I ran over an Armadillo that wandered onto the road. That is the thing you have to deal with when living in remote areas. Bad day for animals. At least I didn't hit a pack of hogs at night when going 70 mph. They were crossing the State road when my friend hit them while driving his Mach-E. It took 3 months to get it fixed due to parts availability.

You have to remove the two plastic covers on either side of the back of the grille. Use a panel removal tool to pull it think 6 press fit tabs. Then unscrew 6 self tapping bolts hidden underneath the plastic covers. Very straightforward. If you need photos DM me 🤙🏼

Thank you,

I got your pictures. Looking at it this morning, after washing the bugs, off the Blue Oval is moving around. It seems that one of the stand offs broke. I’ll have to remove the grill and do repairs on the Fronk Switch one Blue Oval.

I have to wait until next week. I’m getting a skin cancer treatment on my face this morning and it requires I stay out of daylight for at least 3 days after the treatment.

As I tell my wife, it could always be worse. Fortunately the grill isn’t cracked or damaged.

Hope the treatments go well, let us know how the repair goes, later on...

I learned something new. I hear it's a Fronk, not a Frunk. I'll have to change my nomenclature.

Ford refers to it as a Mega Power Frunk. For the Mach-e it's just a frunk (it's not powered nor mega).

Short for Front Trunk.
Not Front Trunk.

News to me. . I'll continue to call it a Frunk (FR-front, trunk-UNK)

So what did they call the "trunk" at the front of cars like the Karmann Ghia?
Frunk, trunk and boot apparently (according to AI, so grain of salt).

The top was called the hood, so maybe it could be called the "honk" or "hunk?"

The front is a bonnet and the rear is a boot generally.
Technically it's under bonnet storage or a front boot.

Maybe they can call it a froot.
Currently travelling in Europe, my kids asked the same question and we decided (without asking any Europeans) that yes; it should be called the froot. 😆

Tom,

I didn't have a trim removal tool and getting the 5 rubber push fasteners out with a screw driver was not an easy task. I finally managed to get them out. After removing the trim panel in that side I was able to extract the damaged "Lift Gate Switch" what Ford calls the release button. I set it back in but it has some damage where it may be able to be pushed into the truck again. I ordered a new Switch from Fairway Ford using my Ford Pass points. BTW, I ordered a trim removal tool kit form Amazon last night an received it today.

Another thing I found is that the Ford Blue Oval in the center of the hood is moving around. It appears that one of the 2 "pins" that attach it to the hood plastic is broken. That piece is $224 with online discount. For now I will apply a dab of black silicone under it to secure the one side and decide if I will replace it at a later time.

eBay is a great source for new or slightly used emblems and a good discount. Bummed it was busted. Glad I could help a little 🤙🏼
