I know this has been covered in the past, but I’m wondering if something has changed.
My mobile cord came with an adapter to plug the 50-amp plug into a 30-amp receptacle. On that adapter is a sticker that instructs me to set the vehicle to draw no more than 24 amps. Has this always been the case? Or is this something new and now there is a way to make that adjustment?

The adapter is a Webasto Go with Ford labeling. My EvV6 has one too and you can adjust the amps on that car. The sticker is probably from Webasto.
But we can always hope!

at the moment, the LIGHTNING has no process to 'lower' or 'change' the AMPERAGE while charging.... unfortunately, though that would be a nice bonus, since other manufacturer EVs, like the BOLT, have that option: 8 amps, 12amps, etc.

Maybe this is something an over-the-air update could provide, but since it has a 'hardware' element due to the Inverter/Converter, it may not be possible.

Also, it's interesting that it give you a separate '30amp' adapter: is that a 240v 30amp adapter, like for a home's Dryer, or just for a 120v 30amp 'campground' outlet?

The label {on the adapter} was a poke in the eye of Tesla corporate/owners, whom we could rescue, they have adjustability within their car controls.

Nope, we don't have adjustability in the Lightnings in truck controls.

It’s a 240v adapter. It’s the twist-lock type (doesn’t fit dryer receptacles, since that would’ve been useful). It’s hard to see in the pic, but it says “FoMoCo” on the black face.

Presumably, that is the EVSE that they are referring to. Charging amperage adjustment isn’t a common feature on EVs but is a common feature on EVSEs. Usually, there is a little switch or dial on the PCB.

That adapter is for Pro Power Onboard assuming your truck has that option, I have used it to charge my Volvo from the PPOB in the bed of the truck. One end is a 4 prong male generator/truckbed connection the other is female 14/50 to be plugged into it.

It was meant to be used with the Ford Mobile Charger and your bed outlet. They included it with early 2022’s as well. Early on they had marketing shots showing the Lightning charging a Tesla with this setup.

Another missed opportunity for Ford to include proper instructions with stuff they just throw in the truck with no explanation.

They can’t produce a non-twist lock at that amp level for a portable device. Won’t meet UL standards. Of course you can easily make your own adapter.

It seems a little silly. But I guess the sticker absolves them from any liability.

Nothing has changed. You cannot regulate the power requested by either the Lightning or the Mach-E.

The Ford Mobile Charger included with the truck will charge at 30amps and not blow the circuit. The Mach-E version will pull 32amps and blow the circuit. The pigtails are different.
