Use the charger all the time, no issues! Charged my Rivian just yesterday at my in-laws for 2 days without issues with it.
That's great.

But the fact is that the Ford Mobile Charger:

- has a high rate of failure.
-at $500, is a poor value as compared to other EVSEs on the market

It was free for me, so no complaints.
It was not free. It was built into the sticker price. Now, Ford has broken it out to push profits by raising the truck price but making this an option.

BlueCruise wasn't free either. 2022s got charged $600.

It's not on the window sticker...

Sigh...

You're right. Everything you got that isn't on the window sticker was free.

When I bought my 23, the mobile power cord was an extra option. Most other 23's I looked at had it listed as a separate option on the sticker similar to below. Mine didn't have it listed but talked the dealer into including one. Good thing as that probably would've pushed me over the 80k MSRP

Maybe later models are improved? I used the one that came with my truck for 2 months before they came installed the FCSP. Never even got warm when charging as my thermal camera proved out.

It was listed under optional equipment for 6 bones.

Homelink can be added to your visor, if you have lighted mirrors, for under $40.

The charger is a piece of garbage.
Is there a link for this $40 add on? I’d love to have it back. One of my favorite things.

Recently purchased a 2025 Platinum with the added Dark Element package. This is the truck I've been waiting for since the inception of the Lightning. It's difficult to explain how a truck owner can live with white leather seats but I digress. Now to the petty part. This is a top tier fully loaded F-150 pickup truck priced at $85,000. Knowing this, Ford has elected to remove the homelink buttons from the sun visor as well as removing the two lights at the rear of the running board. Ford is also asking me to pay $600 for a level 1 charger and Tesla adapter. I love my truck, but this seems like penny pinching at a high level.
I just wish that my 2024 Platinum was available with Black Interior. You have a very rare bird. Great find!

Ass far as Homelink, Level 1-2 charger, Tesla Adapter, and lights n running boards goes here is my opinion.
  • HomeLink- Ford made a mistake removing them but can be added for about $150-$200 by replacing the sunvisor. It's a plug and play installation
  • Level 1-2 Charger- I paid $500 for mine and never used it. I would have prefered it was not included on the window sticker.
  • Tesla Adaptor- Ford sent me a FREE Tesla Adaptor ad now they include it with the $600 optional charger
  • Running board lights- I have optional power running boards, they never came with lights.

So I JUST bought My Lariat (2025) and It included a Mobile Charger (level 1) and a Level 2 Charger through Ford Power Promise. (but that has taken forever to make that happen0. It also included a TESLA adapter. I bought on Nov 30- so you may want to contact Ford Power Promise and ask them- it may be that your dealer is just filled with people who dont know this product.

As for the lack of the Homelink- Yeah, my Lariat doesnt have it, but It does have Alexa, which I can link to my Garage door through the Aladdin Genie app. So I can open or close my garage through an app, or just Alexa to do it. I might look into building a widget to do it directly through the app.

The benefit is that with the Genie Aladdin app, I can get Amazon deliveries sent to my Garage.

Not petty at all. And it also forms t come with a spare tire. 90k vehicle with no spare and no Homelink. What BS!

Take a look at Skechers Air cooled memory foam seat covers, black and black, for front and back full sets for 68.84 at 10% off on Amazon. I like them and they help protect for the dog as well.

My 2024 Platinum came with the mobile charger but not homelink. I was slightly aggravated at that as well. To be honest, homelink on my previous Ford trucks never worked that well. Very poor range. I used my clip on opener on my 2024 and had the same issue. In contrast, my wife’s Audi can open the door from half down our 225ft driveway without fail. I was lucky to get a reliable open/close within 25ft of the door. I think there is something about the way Ford makes their trucks, maybe something in the glass, that attenuates the signal.

I installed a smart opener onto my existing Chamberlain and it is FAR superior. Three wires and power was all it needed to install. It took 10 minutes. Now the garage door pops up on my carplay screen whenever I am within about a half mile from my home. And it tells me the status. So if I am at the grocery store and see that its open, I can close it and get confirmation. I believe Android Auto does the same.

It doesn’t mitigate your concern, but maybe your aggravation.
Interesting - I can be passing my neighbors home two houses down from my house and the Homelink in my 2023 Lariat ER opens the garage without any issues (I have a newer Chamberlain opener).
