I can neither confirm nor deny I have beans to spill, but…

We will probably see the Explorer EV (5/7 seat options) enter the US market since Ford already makes it elsewhere. Add in a barebones Maverick EV to compete with Slate and probably an EV Focus or another compact for that segment. All with the same concept as the GM Ultium platform to scale up or down, have common parts for cost control and technicians that can learn 1 thing and be done with all the differences in models (because Ford knows EV service is a sore spot). That said, they will have a Lightning with a larger battery given the 8 lug config, competing with R1T/Sierra/Silverado/Dumpster (and maybe hummer?)
Exactly what I think as well. Ford explorer EV already offered in Europe. It could make its way to us. That platform could be used for other same size/new models... 🍿

Hoping the best for Ford, bring more EV's, but it won't be a Model T moment. That ship sailed a few years ago. They are nothing but behind the times following at this point.

Maybe the low cost EV is one of those Battery Not Included models. The new Bolt is revealing soon and Slate is coming down the line. With low cost vehicles they may go with printer business models; try to flood the market, selling at cost and make money off of parts, software and subscriptions.

Ford Model e has lost $2.2 Billion this year so far. They have to change something. These guys say they are shifting resources from future EV programs to Pro.
Ford stated this in their Q2 earnings release.

The Explorer EV is a VW. Ford stated it would not come to the US. If they change their minds, it is still a VW. And it is much smaller than ICE Explorer.

Ford had announced their bronco sport esque ev in china, so I wouldn’t be shocked if this is a family of EVs based off that platform just like GM with ultium. Think bronco sport, maverick, maybe something else like explorer? I have to imagine it will be unibody, low cost, and trying to stay on the 300mi number for range.

Hoping the best for Ford, bring more EV's, but it won't be a Model T moment. That ship sailed a few years ago. They are nothing but behind the times following at this point.
I don't typically weigh in on these topics but I do agree that when it comes to the domestic conversation at least, Ford really lost their footing.

Their attempt at dealership reform really went against them: EV direct sales model/dealership installed DC fast chargers...and simultaneously GM was faltering. Immediately after this time (and also not launching/announcing new models, while sales were also decreasing) is when they should have had a "Plan B" to match what they are attempting now.

And here we are today; the slow but steady GM approach has netted them in a better position, while Ford's bolder approach flatlined and put them back towards the starting line. To be fair, I was in the Ford bold move camp when announced but the immediate backlash with the auto industry lobbyists/dealership lawsuits...it became apparant that Ford was also not fully planned for that intensity and seemed half-baked.

I hope this is a successful announcement but they have a longer race ahead of them (than a few years back).

Inexpensive 2WD, seats 4, Escapesque size maybe. 2 door maybe, Maverickish platform but EV. But Tesla sold a ton of pumpkin seed aero so maybe there’s a market to poach? 50+ years ago I drove $300 used cars. No idea what I’d drive to day if living under the IRS threshold. Probably a $3K car. AI eating away at higher paying jobs, frozen economy, greater automation in manufacturing, questionable & slowly expanding charging infrastructure. A Model T moment means many things. So if it’s inexpensive transportation it’s got to steal a significant portion of the low end-current market with a Maverick price range like 20’s to 40’s. But maybe one platform two (or three?) strong market sectors. sedans to crossovers? I’ve no idea.

Lots of rumors the first new build will be a truck bigger than the Maverick but smaller than the Ranger. Which could make sense not canalize any current segment too much, but still a useful truck in a spot where no EV currently exists in the US market. Also expected LFP battery packs to drastically reduce cost. Again make sense since smaller would need less power.

Model T moment? ... I did a search for ALL the Body on frame (non-unibody), Fully-Electric, pickup trucks offered in N.America and found ... ONE - so I bought it. LOL.
