Its issue like this that set back the use of alternative technologies. If the battery manufacturer was the one with the issues, they should pay for these recalls.

My wifes Wrangler 4XE is a part of this recall. Its really frustrating as this is the 3rd recall her Jeep has had about the same issue.

In 1982 I bought a Jeep CJ-7. In 1987 Chrysler acquired Jeep. Wouldn't ever consider any Jeep after that.

Jeep 4xe Fire Caught on Camera: Recall Expands to 375,000 Vehicles
This is a good time to brush up on vehicle fire statistics:

Hybrids (like the 4xe) are responsible for 233% more vehicle fires than gas vehicles.

Battery-only EVs (like the Lightning) responsible for 6,000% fewer vehicle fires than gas vehicles.

Yes, that's correct -- you will experience roughly 139 hybrid vehicle fires and 61 gas vehicle fires for each one battery-electric vehicle fire. Per NTSB vehicle fire data, while NCM battery fires are hard to put out, they are incredibly rare: roughly 25 fires per 100,000 BEVs sold in the US. This is compared to 1530 vehicle fires per 100,000 ICE vehicles sold, and 3475 fires per 100,000 hybrid vehicles sold.
