Lane Keeping (or Lane Centering) automatically engages with Cruise Control?

Every time I press the cruise control button, this damn truck automatically engages lane keeping (or centering or whatever it is called). This is very annoying... If I remember, I then have to take my eyes off the road and press another button to disengage the lane keeping. (PITA)

Three (3) times now, I have been on a curve on the road, and have the truck jerk the wheel... I truly feel like it wants to pull me into the oncoming traffic... it is very uncomfortable, and in my opinion, appears to be unsafe!

I don't have adaptive cruise, nor do I have Blue cruise...

Any way to get this "Feature" permanently turned off?

No way to turn off. It was added in an IPMA update last year.
I just get in the habit of enabling cruise, disabling lane keep.

Yep, it's incredibly annoying. I've built the muscle memory to cancel the lane keep when turning on cruise.
@Ford Motor Company You need to revert that update. It was not a good idea. Please have whoever you gave a bonus to for suggesting it return said bonus. Thanks.

Took me by surprise when I got it back from the dealer for parking sensor update. Very unsafe.

Just got our truck back from the shop, and wife discovered this new "feature". She HATES lane centering. I suppose I'll have to adjust it to lowest setting since it cannot be removed.

It spooked me at first and didn't like it whatsoever. Strangely enough though after monitoring it's capabilities and building trust in it I have come to appreciate it. It's like having a co-pilot that's got my back "just in case" I'm distracted. Added safety insurance. My biggest gripe is that it feels like it's reactive more than than proactive, in other words it only kicks in when your hugging the line rather than actively keeping you in the center.

If you don't like all the nannies, you can just get one of these to fool your truck into thinking you have a trailer. You lose blindspot monitoring, lane centering, blue cruise and cross traffic alert but get the added benefit of the cameras on the mirrors showing on your center screen when using your turn signal (standard on 24+, must be enabled using forscan on 22/23)

I agree with the jerkiness feeling. You start correcting for drift and then it decides to correct for drift at same time resulting in a jerky, especially on right hand corners.

Interestingly when it cannot find the lines after having already found them it dings loudly and tells you. Contrast this with bluecruise dropping out...you get nothing. I'm busying scanning the road and not staring at the dash...suddenly I get dinged at for not holding the steering wheel because bluecruise quietly turned off sometime ago.

I like the LKA. As stated above, it is like having a co-pilot. I had my first car with adaptive cruise control nearly 18 years ago and have grown to like the assistance features to the point that I use them every drive. Nothing in them makes me do anything. I find the intrusions minimal. Early on with the truck it did push me in to a position in the lane that was not my "normal" line, yet I have become used to the trucks preferred line. Don't fight it, learn to move with it.

now, the automatic parking feature is something that I still have not become used to.

To be fair, I don't mind the LKA. But I only want it on when I turn it on. It should be a toggle independent of the cruise control, like it used to be when I first bought it.

When it happened to me, I thought I accidentally turned it on instead of the cruise control.
I have not experienced any problems with it, I only use cruise control when I am on a stretch of road where there is often speeding and police radar set up, and that is usually a straight path.

Due to pedestrian deaths, they lowered parts of Rt 1 near me from 45 mph to 35 mph (cheaper than putting more crosswalks for pedestrians - but still have folks getting hit, alas) so they catch a lot of folks doing the old speed limit.

I can remember the early days of cruise control and how sometimes it would run amok, fail to disengage, etc. Not sure if having lane keep/lane centering on with cruise control is a good thing or a bad thing.

Is our cruise control "adaptive?" If so, maybe that lane control makes some sense.

@Ford Motor Company : Ford should provide a way to default to no lane control with cruise control all the time instead of having to turn it off manually every time, duh.

Do the folks who are experiencing this inconvenience with lane keeping being enable have driver settings associated with their key fob? And if they do and are still having the problem, has anyone tried to delete and edit those settings?

I checked my '23 Lariat and still have the setting to disable LKA in the Driver Assistance menu. LKA is still disabled for the second key fob. I need to road test to be sure the menu selection is still functional.

I've found that one bug splat on the windshield in front of the camera will disable the lane centering. It's tough to get the bug in the right spot while driving. Some black tape over the camera may be easier to do. for those who don't want lane keeping enabled.

I thought I saw a slider in settings to turn that off.
