Do you know how Emporia compares to Sense?

https://sense.com/
I'm not exactly sure, but I think Sense only has sensors on the panel mains. Then it guesses what each load is when applied. Emporia has sensors on the mains and up to 16 individual circuits, which you can label.

Ouch - you mean like Carscanner and the Wifi OBD2 reader you loaned me? I need an engineering manual to know which monitor will tell me and a co-pilot to read them while driving. :)

Actually there are 16 pages of setttings and I do just need to spend some time looking at them. There is more than one that might indicate some battery temp readings.
I am sure we could find someplace to go and I can do the reading

If you buy it, use the code 5%offmycart. If you put something in your cart, go through the checkout process but don't complete it, within a day they will send you that code but I found it will work from the get-go after ordering my EVSE directly from them.
Thanks, order went in with 5% discount included and free shipping!!!
The Emporia Gen 2 Vue arrived today, I installed and configured to my wifi and connected via app.

All is working well and I can now watch the data collection live or review the logs at a later date this is awesome!!!!

One Question, the APP has a feature for connection to our Ford Pass account, I assume to gather mileage data, do you use that functionality, or just gathering the raw data of the EVSE power consumption?

Installed in my garage load center

FP said it took 4kWh to charge the truck which is comparable to Emporia measurement

Where have you seen a feature to link it to Fordpass? I guess I haven't dug that far into it.

I’ve done it when not connected. It just showed SOC and the GOM. Was useless for what I saw so I removed it. It’s under the electric vehicle page.

Ok, but wouldn't that get our FordPass locked after while like the guys that have shared charging data from the FCSP?

Sadly Ford has to get over this. Running a horribly inefficient infrastructure as it already is - there is a streaming interface/API from my car with my data - gime the F*** access to it. The traditional car makers still have so far to fall. They just can't grasp it and are scared of everything around them. However, not embracing it may be the one that that sinks them. I have no problem with that, they need to wake up while they can.

That is my fear, unless Emporia, Ford Motor company and their IBM cloud management service have a data sharing agreement via customer consent, I fear that may be lacking as it was the National Grid Mass Charge Smart app and cloud service.

I'm on my 3rd pendency of a total ban so I am not going to beta test it........ any other takers?

I only looked for it after your earlier post. I had it connected for 5min max and then removed it. Agreed. It’s not worth the data that is also available on the FordPass app for being locked out of the account.

So I have not been precondtioning my truck (parked outside 0F-20F) for my short drive to work 5 miles where I park in a garage and get to use free warm air to heat the battery all day. I am consistently seeing 153-159 range on the GOM at 90%SOC with a cold battery 10-20degrees. If I precondition I get 204-212 on the GOM at 90%SOC battery temp is 50-56degrees.

We know that there is one auxiliary heater, 2 coolant pumps and 2 diverter valves. When the climate calls for heat there is no heat delivered to battery. Yet warming up the battery 20-30 degrees yields 30-40% more range. Climate control on longer drives only steals about 15% when it is very cold and this is the same heater that heats the battery during precondition. It seems to me that adding a second aux heater to the battery loop and spending an additional 15% to heat and keep the battery warm that yields 30-40% more range is the way to go. No more power limitations when it is 0F to -20F outside on a long drive and just watching battery temp drop off a cliff. I think Ford has an excellent HVB cooling system but the heating strategy baffles me.

Help me understand why this is a bad idea? Besides the fact that Ford didn't do this.

Just so I understand, you want the truck to use its battery to continuously “condition” the battery while driving in cold weather, correct?

If so, couldn’t they enable this via an OTA update.

I would prefer a heat strategy of maintaining a minimum battery temperature rather than just running a battery heater the whole time. In regards to OTA the problem is mechanically they utilize a single heater with two diverter valves that send heat to climate or battery but cannot do both at the same time. So even if they programmed both loops to run at the same time there would need to be another heater or plumbing changes for it to work.
