I'd have to guess you'll be later on this year. I reserved 05/19/21, order placed somewhere around 01/20/22, mid-April got a build week on 06/13/22, that got pushed back to 07/ 10/22, finally 06/16/22 I got my window sticker with a blend date of 07/15/22.

This is all GREAT INFO everyone. Thank you in advance. New to the site... Order placed on 6/14 for my iconic silver metallic Lariat w/Extended Battery; pretty much loaded.Just watching the Ford site like a crack-head for any changes (haha).

Question:
Reservation placed on 5/26/2021. Order place on 6/14/2022. I'm in California. Any ideas on how long until I get to the next step "Scheduled for Production"? Trying to come up with some any idea when I might actually get this truck... completely in the dark at the moment.

What is a Vehicle Tear Tag?


The Tear Tag allows Ford the ability to identify any change made to a vehicle concerning its emission equipment, calibration or any deviation from the standard emissions configuration. It also allows any updates to be controlled and documented.

It is normally the last step after the truck software (PCM Module Programming) has been completed (Populated). Then there will be a manual step where the tag is engraved onto the completed vehicle for future reference.

What Does It Mean To Have Your Modules Pop (Populate)?

This is the procedure by a Ford Tech in which he/she loads the coding into your onboard controller (computer). The Number of Code Lines populated in a PCM only shows how many individual instructions are required to control all the features in a particular truck. A Pro will have many less lines than a Platinum. After the Module has "Popped" the Tech will print out a Tear Tag (Label) to be placed at various places in your truck.

The Tear Tag for the 2022 Ford Lightning consists of Three (3) Letters followed by a Digit. The Letters designate the Name of the Program sequenced to that Type of truck (including the options ordered) which will include all features that are controlled by a chip or chips. In other words a Pro will have a different set of letters than a fully loaded Platinum. The Digit denotes the Version Number of the original update.

Example: XLT SR CDM 8; XLT ER CBJ 8; Lariat ER CGV 8.

The Tear Tag become really important in the future so the truck can be programmed back to original condition.

Normally, the Tear Tag will post when you get your Built or Shipped email or sometime time after your Mod Pops.

It is normally the last thing done in the factory process before the truck rolls out the door. ;)

Thanks for those who posted this info. Two questions:

  • Is there any way to reverse engineer a reservation number using VIN and order #'s? I've inherited an abandoned order, but related activities like SunRun ask for reservation #. Would also love to change that email so I receive the photo of the truck rolling off the line, etc.

  • Did palsapp get wise to the browser hack? I can get the VIN search window to appear, but clicking the search icon or pressing enter key, submit, etc. don't do anything.

Ask the selling dealer what the original customers 8 digit reservation number was, if it is available in the paper work files or WBDO.

There has been confusion about how to track shipping from the Lightning Plant in Michigan.

Nearly all the units shipping over a distance of 300 miles plus will ship on the first leg by RAIL and then be transferred at various rail transit yards to new rail carriers along the way, eventually being transferred to an over-the-road Truck Transport for the last leg to your dealer. This is especially true for East-West or Coastal destinations. These are difficult to track and tools to track these are shown elsewhere in this thread.

But for routes North-South where rail lines are less available (like mine to KY) truck transport is the norm. My Window Stick shows a Start Point at the factory of "CK59". These can be easily tracked after the Blend Date (a date where Ford will start to schedule transport means). I believe units being shipped as far south as Florida can be tracked using this tool.

I had tried following the instructions on this forum, MME forum, and FB to pull the VIN# from my Ford Account reservation page with a Build Date. I don't know why my VIN# wasn't showing up in the same places as the screenshots shown by other Lightning reservists.

But, I was unsuccessful at finding the VIN# in the standard places everyone was finding theirs. It was easy to find my Order Number in the data but was coming up blank on the VIN#.

I kept tinkering around and finally found my VIN# in the Browser Developer tools like everyone else. Just a slightly different area for me. This might also help someone find their VIN if the standard way shows up nothing.

  • Firefox
  • Login to your Ford.com/ MY ACCOUNT/ go into your Lightning "Reservation & Orders" page
  • Click "View" to see your Lightning's configuration info "YOUR ORDER"
  • Make sure your Lightning is "Scheduled for Production" with a build date "Week of #/##/2022".
  • [F12] to go into Firefox the browser's "Developer Tools"
  • My Firefox Developer Tools shows up on the bottom half of the main browser window. In some cases, it may take the right side of the browser window.
  • In the Developer Tools larger window, select the [Network] tab and also the [XHR] tab on the upper rows of the Developer Tools window.
  • Click inside the Browser window Ford page and press [F5] for Firefox to refresh the browser page. Refreshing the "YOUR ORDER" web page will load up data into the Developer Tools window below.
  • On the upper bars of the Developer Tools window, there is a picture drawing of a tiny funnel "FILTER" for you you to input your Order Number ########. Enter only the numbers.
  • You'll probably get 2-3 hits in the filter results window below, look for the columns [Type] JSON/ highlight that specific record.
  • When you highlight that filter result a smaller window will show itself to the side.
  • In the smaller side window [Headers] tab is probably highlighted, click the [Response] tab and data will cache in the smaller window
  • Click the "Raw" slider switch to show the raw data. This is the final step that allowed me to see my VIN#.
  • Go and click in the smaller cache window results and highlight all the data [CTRL]+"A"
  • Open a Word or Notepad document, Paste [CTRL] + "V" all the data into the text document.
  • In the Word or Notepad Search for "1FTV" (the first letter is a number one), in my search results, My Lightning VIN# was very near the top of the data dump.
  • my data looked like this: "catalogId":"WANAB-TFD-2022-F-150","vin":"1FTVW1EL1NWG05xxx"
Forgot an important step. UPDATED.
If you struggled to find your VIN, these steps helped me

My truck has been shipped by convoy but the palsapp hack does not work for me. I can bring up a VIN search box using Chrome however the search function does not respond.

I am experiencing the same issue. When I put in the VIN, nothing happens. Anyone figure out if this is a browser specific issue (I've tried with Firefox and Chrome) or if there are additional steps?

I was exploring around the CSX site and found this info on CSX TDSI facilities. In short, these are the rail yards where your truck can be offloaded and put on a truck for the final leg to the dealer.

Also note New Boston(Ramp 5M) is denoted on here as the primary TDSI facility for Lightnings headed East on CSX. (I don't see any other Dearborn area locations on the map)

It's never by truck (convoy) unless you happen to be very close to MI.
All transportation is handled via rail.
My Lariat from MI to CA took 14 days on Union Pacific which I tracked using the automated phone system.
