Salty, so salty. Most Lightnings that are sold todate can't charge at 80amp (huge waste installing that)...so talk about it is just truck, yes it is and most here like factual conversation and will call out BS, but you do you.
[/QUOTE

Without FCSP running at 80 amps at home, I wouldn’t own this truck.
wow. I’m doing me, Mr sad and salty. Unfortunately, it triggered you.
It’s just an anonymous forum. And it’s just a truck.
I, and others are saying that claiming, as you did, that if you can't charge at 80amps you shouldn't own the truck, is a ridiculous statement.

Can you make something less work? Of course but why bother.
Unless there a reason to override economics, cut losses and move on.
I said Me. But if that hurt your feelings, so sad.

But how is that helping OP? Like what was even the point? And what is your special situation even?

That's the confusing part. If you have advice based on experience, that's awesome, but you aren't explaining what is so special about 80 amps that you would be lost without it. Be honest, if it's something that maybe we are just overlooking it can help the overall community. But if you just want it because "number bigger" or because you like to see your truck sitting in the garage at 80% immediately, then... whatever I guess.

From OP “What are your experiences? Am I the only fool who owns sr with no home charging?”
Why are so many people so butt hurt about this? Sounds like massive insecurities lashing out at a comment requested by the OP and not them.
If you direct a comment at me, I will reply. If someone asks my opinion, I will give it.

Since you are going to have an electrician out to take a look at the wiring, i suggest that you ask him to take a look at your panel to see if there is room to add 50 amp breaker. if so why not get him to provide a quote to install a NEMA 14-50 Plug either inside the garage on the left hand side by the garage door opening or outside the garage in your carport on the wall beside your garage door. you can then use the ford portable charger to charge your truck, or you can buy and install a 40 amp charger that is set up with a 14-15p plug. attached is a picture of my setup.

I'm not... sigh... "butt hurt" about anything. But you even quoted OP, "what are your experiences?", you didn't give an experience or an explanation. Just said you wouldn't have it without an 80 amp, but everything is relative right? It's not unreasonable, for the benefit of OP, to understand why less than 80 amps is a non-starter.

It's just a question, not sure why you are being so evasive.

This post on the Lighting subreddit has a few suggestions looks like some folks have had luck with getting conduit under the sidewalk and putting a post up with the charger next to a parking spot. If you have a carport I'd think if you can get approval having an electrician run power underground to the carport would be a viable solution.

You convinced me. My 2024 $91,735 MSRP Platinum Lightning can't charge at 80 amps and only can charge at a mx of 48 amps. I just realized it is worthless, so I will put it on the market tomorrow.

this conversation, or argument, makes me think that a few believe that we LIGHTNING owners are only on this forum to promote our Lightning purchase, as if no other option is 'better'... but...

I have plenty of conversations with folks who ask me about my Lightning, whose main concern is 'how long does it take to charge'. They are simply not yet involved in really wanting to get to know how these things work, they just have an initial pause to anything that is 'different' from what they normally deal with. No 'explaining' or 'promoting' my vehicle, and it's success in life over 56,000 miles, is really going to sway them about ANY EV.

Others, who complain that you just 'can't' live with an EV without 80amps EVSE charging, is, well, very similar to the others... they just can't bring themselves to convince themselves that it CAN work, no matter what data or experience you give them. The same argument is made many times about 'range', as though only 500 miles would work.

I'm a living testament that any EV, LIGHTNING or not, can 'survive' on a simple 120v household outlet, too, if that's all you have. You CAN make it work, in many situations, but, YES, absolutely, it is NOT for everyone - we ALL have a different tolerance level, and, yes, we all have DIFFERENT lives: I may drive 20 miles on an average day - no worries with 120v. My neighbor may commute 80 miles a day - that's a WHOLE different set of issues.

There is no one-answer-fits-all, but, those of us who love our LIGHTNINGS, LOVE our Lightnings...they work. They work GREAT! Most ANY EV works great, if you really want it to.

btw, yes, I would suggest a 240v EVSE option, whether a lowly 20amp EVSE, which I've used many times, or my Ford Mobile 30amp fixed EVSE, or my go-to adjustable 30amp EVSE, for daily charging. These options keep you in a window of being able to get a 'full' charge, when needed, overnight, or being plugged in all day long, or they let you stay unplugged for much of the week, until the night before you need it...whatever works.
My truck hasn't been plugged in for a week. It's at 60% and has been driven very little lately. I might drive 600 miles tomorrow, though, who knows.

@hturnerfamily

When asked how long does it take to charge I always say I haven’t really timed it but best guess is 10 seconds. That usually results in a strange look from the person asking.

Then I will expand my answer and say it’s just like my cell phone. It takes me about 10 seconds to plug it in but I have no idea how long it takes to fully charge. I plug it in before going to bed and it’s fully charged and ready to go in the morning. So it only takes about 10 seconds of my day. That is about the same time it takes to blow my nose.

There’s a carport directly in front of the garage, which is where I park. I considered running an extension cord to the spot, but I do t think hoa will like that. I’m going to back into garage for level one charging once I have an electrician inspect the wiring in there. I don’t trust the work in there as far as wire size and condition at the outlet.
Many localities do not allow HOA's to ban EVSE, solar, etc. if they say no, check your local laws.

If your condo has a dryer outlet (usually 240V, 30A or 40A), you could put a plug-in EVSE near the dryer and get a J1772 extension cord if needed to run to your truck (under the garage door with care). You are only going to need to charge at night, right so be sure the cord is black or the same color as the driveway, if you get my point.
