Because the truck lights up like a Christmas tree when “on.” You can shut off most of it but then you have the vehicle power down timer to worry about.

Pro power when “off” is also extremely useful if you’re powering a camp site or just want the convenience of pressing one button to activate vs needing to turn off climate, the various screens, radio, etc. when running the generator for a long time.
Would the FORScan "silent mode" otherwise called "dark mode" help? I turned this on with its selective Sync toggle and we use it when camping overnight.

HOW TO is in this post:

So, you're telling us that with the truck OFF, Doors locked, no key in pocket,, you can walk up to the bed, push the little green button next to the outlets and the ProPower will turn on?
Yes. It’s a standard feature for 24/25 that is supposed to come to 22/23 via software update “eventually.” There’s a toggle in the sync screen that you have to enable and then the outlets must be activated within so many minutes of the door being closed.

Quite possibly! I have a 24 so it’s less of an issue for me but I did this mod last night to try it out when camping this weekend. If nothing else, silent mode should stop the truck lighting up if I’m parked too close to the camper or if I need to get something out of the bed at night.

I believe Silent mode or dark/campground mode is only "dark" when the vehicle is off. So if you lock/unlock doors or open/close doors, the lights always stay off and the horn doesn't honk with the fob lock command.

Useful for getting something out of the truck or locking/unlocking while it's off.

Once you turn the truck on, I think this mode is no longer active unfortunately. :( But please test.

I agree the Ford software is horrible. the nav always takes me to dead end roads, private roads with locked gates. I use Apple Maps and ABRP (a better route planner). both can add NACS and CCS chargers.

With CarPlay you can use a variety of Apps such as PlugShare and set filters for charger stations. We are planning a trip from San Francisco to Yellowstone this Summer and I hope to make good use of that capability.

I just finished a 3400 mile trip where I charged in eight different states. The Ford NAV system was basically useless for this journey; I relied entirely on Apple Maps via CarPlay. The reason for its uselessness? The Ford system does not display compatible Tesla superchargers, and Apple does. I really wish Ford would stop pushing out pointless updates for both the truck and the app, and give us something that would be actually useful like the location of Tesla chargers.

make sure you have the NACS adapter. we went last year and all the CCS chargers were broken near the park. only the Tesla SC was working. otherwise awesome trip.

Actually, the Ford NAV does display some Tesla Supercharger locations... it's admittedly a fraction of the total amount of Tesla Supercharger locations out there, but some Superchargers are in there. It's easy to verify this on the Ford NAV DC Fast charger search screen, especially in a large urban area like mine. In my area, that will show about 10 - 15% of the Tesla Supercharger locations here... the real deal, not Magic Dock ones.

From my Mach E days when I first looked at this and compared notes with other Mach E drivers a year+ ago, it appeared the obstacle was more on the Tesla's side than at Ford's side... something to do with making that data layer available in a dynamic, updated and complete fashion between the two companies. Of course, that was about the time Musk fired a large part of the Tesla division that dealt with non-Tesla EV supercharging.

I just use the Tesla app to find one when I travel.
Yes, it’s infuriating but Ford managed to pull off that deal with Tesla to get us access to the chargers and then over a year later they still cannot get them all in their navigation, it’s very frustrating while traveling, especially by yourself you’re having to use the Tesla app while you drive to locate chargers that should be in the navigation already. It’s just uploading a database. I’ve told them it’s a safety issue, it’s also a big customer satisfaction issue and they just blew it on the simplest part.

There are two companies involved here... the company which has to provide such information to us Ford users through Ford's system(s) is not Ford, but Tesla.

Tesla is also the company which began with fanfare to build out their Supercharger Magic Dock solution for every EV vehicle that has either the Tesla connector or the CCS connector built-in... until Musk fired the project team en masse, about 18+ months ago if memory serves me right.

Ford certainly isn't a perfect company, yet I somehow see this failure as more on the Tesla end.

Disclaimer: I am not a software/computer programmer...but it seems as if Ford's programmers could go through and input the superchargers open to Lightning drivers...I know on the stretch of I-90 I drive in Montana there are 2 SC over 380 miles...neither is in the the Ford navigation system.

Ford doesn't do the map programming...
