Driving home yesterday from work, I had the screen set on the built-in Navigation. Usually, I have the CarPlay on and never see it. For some reason, the screen was showing the posted speed limit as 80MPH on Mound Road in Sterling Heights, MI. This is clearly posted at 40 MPH! The same happened on the highway, M59, which was showing 112MPH instead of 70 MPH. This seems like a liability issue for Ford, especially if this is the same numbers used in the BlueCruise for automated driving.

I have tried going through every screen to make sure settings are set properly for driving in the USA (MPH). The calculation does not add up for the conversion of kph to mph (80 to 40), but seems relatively close to the highway speeds.

Any idea what might be happening here?

It happens. There’s a street in my city that’s 35, my Mach-E thinks it’s 70. There are no signs there that can be misinterpreted. It has to be an error in the GPS database.

I have had the truck drop to 40 on the freeway as well as if it saw a different speed limit sign. @Ford Motor Company there should be a what happened just there button that we can submit an issue where it captures the last 5 min of data and sends it off for review.

The first thing I would check is if your windshield is clean, if not I’d give that a try.

I've encountered several mis-mapped speed limits, some on local town/city roads, others on the interstate highways, we need a report it function on the map.

I had to turn off the cruise control setting that uses speed sign recognition (will adjust your setting to recognized signs). On I-35 north of Dallas we have express lanes that parallel the main lanes. TXDOT confusingly places their speed limit signs (5-10 mph higher) between the two sets of lanes and it was triggering an increase to my cruise setting.

The database is maintained by HERE. If you go to www.mapcreator.here.com you can create an account, and see what the database says. I did this on a road near my house in SE Michigan because it was showing 25 when it's 50. I submitted it to them on 11/4, with data backup from the country showing it's 55 unposted, and they said they sent it to their teams to proceed with verification. It's still showing on 12/16 as 25...

I looked up Mound Road, @sZedely, while I was in there today, and it is showing as 50mph / 80kph.

Your numbers work out to the exact KPH (50 is 80, 70 is 112), so I suspect it's a temporary glitch. If it happens again, reboot Sync (hold volume down and right seek for 10 seconds) and see if that helps.

This has to be an issue with the map database. My truck doesn't have the BlueCruise, as it is a standard XLT. I hope that Ford decides to read these forums and add a report feature. Good idea.
