New GenerLink option (TN, and Utah)

I'm not sure how fast this is rolling out, but I got an email that goes to this link showing a GenerLink switch transfer in Tennessee and Utah according to the email. While I believe similar things have been around in other areas thought this would be useful for anyone looking at options. If it had been available two years ago I'd have likely gone this route.

That is exactly the type of solution I would love.

I have a heat pump that I believe the truck could run just fine (with a soft start kit), but its on a 60amp breaker due to the auxiliary heat coils. I can disable the heat coils in the settings, but there is no clean way to move the 60 amp circuit to transfer sub panel without buying something much larger than I need or can use.

Powering the whole panel and just selecting my loads would be ideal!

Such a deal. So many in SE Michigan despise DTE.

I had one of these decades ago, and it worked great. I just had a shitty pull start generator, but it was enough to run the 240V furnace fan to keep the whole house warm in the winter. Plus, every single light switch and socket is live, which is super nice. Just don't turn on the AC or the oven and you'll be good.

$250 - $400 installation cost is fantastic.

I saw something interesting….an electrician installed a second meter can on the premises side of the utility meter and mounted the Generlink on it. The utility has no say in what you can do on your side of the demarcation point. He cleared it with his local inspector first.

I like this idea. I am surprised the inspector approved it.

Edit: the first post's link does say you can install it 2 ways and then shows a picture of the product after or behind the meter.
