Newbie - about how long will it take to start getting updates?

Just took delivery of a new, '25, Lightning Flash. Looks like a early-May build, and it was delivered to the dealer sometime in June. When I took it home, the Auto Update function was turned off and the Ford Owner website indicates there have been no OTA's or other updates since manufacture. I have turned the Auto function back on and also attached it to our home wifi.

Any idea when I'll get some updates?

There is one that I had received on our '22 XLT with Sync 4 that I kind of miss - the "approach lights" that come on as you walk up. Did that one ever make it over to the Lightning? Did they role out Phone As A Key to lowly Flash owners?

I don't believe that the Flash has approach lights or Phone as a Key (PaaK) and is only on Lariat/Platinum trims. Congrats on the truck!

My personal view is to, on occasion, leave it running somewhere with good cell service. Maybe once every two weeks while grocery shopping, etc. There is a cellular component to the updates and this ensures that part has time to initiate.

If you frequently drive for long periods in good coverage that probably isnt as important, but it won't hurt.

There are a few members here that may be able to look your truck up by Vin and see where its at as far as updates.

Updates could start right away, or months later, or longer. Depends on how updated the truck was and whether anything needs an update.

OTA updates don't happen until the truck is purchased and registered with an owner.

I got mine in July. Got one update nothing since. I have quickly realized the truck is pretty much up to date. Already comes with the latest BlueCruise version so being in the forum and seeing all these updates is not for us newer models. One update I got was something about managing the 12 volt battery. Thats it.

Might be different specs, I neglected to specify I was looking at the Canadian 2025 Flash. Configurator shows the security lights as not available. Might be my misinterpretation but I took that to mean that approach lights are not available for the 2025 Flash.

The full zone lighting system illuminates upon approach. Just have to dig for it in the settings. I recommend taking 20 to 30 minutes to explore all the vehicle options in the sync system. There’s a ton in there.

Same update I got. There might have been more though as I used FDRS to see if any modules had an update available and there were a couple so I updated them myself.

I have found I receive updates on the full moon, new moon, waxing crescent, waning Gibbous, when the wind blows above 17 mph and below 10 mph...sorry, completely unhelpful...One thing I have found, is I typically receive an update about a month after someone on here starts a thread about a new update.

I got a message that I had an update a few days ago. then it asked if i wanted to follow through, I noted Yes, it started the initiation, and I walked away from the truck, then about 30 min later I checked Ford Pass and it said it failed to complete, Have not been in thee truck since...
