Any time you see a new DCFC in NH/ME/VT post it here.

I just saw that there are two Volta 50kW CCS chargers open (or about to open, they've been installed since at least May) in Tilton, NH at the Tanger outlets. Volta uses a free charging model that is paid for by advertising on the pedestal screens. They also limit your charge time to 30 minutes. 30 minutes on 50kW isn't getting you much but considering the lack of DCFC infrastructure north of Manchester this might be required to get you where you need to go.

Looks like Twin State Ford in St. Johnsbury also recently opened two 62.5kW Chargepoint chargers.

The local EA stations have been on reduced output for some sort of upgrade. I assume there must be some issue with the hardware if they’re restricting charge. If they were just replacing them with the new units there wouldn’t be a reason to restrict them.

ChargeHub.com is a good app with large database of EV charger providers you can filter, including only showing level 3 chargers and your type of charge connection. gives more realistic idea of where you need to plan trips through.

Well, if this Tesla-Ford thing happens on time then all of our northern new england charging issues will be over this time next year. Great job by Ford leading on this.

I had a meeting with the club brothers and with the crappy weather took the Lightning instead of the Harley, my day started at 90%, used maybe 2% around town at home, then late afternoon trip north I arrived with 56%, I wasn't hypermiling :D:D , but achieved 2.1 MPK for the trip.

With the toll methodology changing in Mass to $/kWh, I wanted to try the EA in Nashua, so I stopped at the Pheasant Lane Mall, terminal 1 was being uncooperative, it would start charging, and at a good rate of 136KW, but stopped after about 5 minutes of connect time, I tried one more time that lasted only about 3 minutes then the dispenser errored out, it went from 56% to 64% though and these sessions were free!!!!

Terminal 2 had a VW and Terminal 4 had an Audi, so I squeezed in between them and plugged in, this session worked well went from 65% to 90% in 28 minutes took on 35.403 kWh, toll rate was 19 cents a minute and total $5.34 (no sales tax THANKS NH), I was still expecting to pay less but not this much less than a Mass situated EA. One more thing, I downgraded my subscription to PASS MEMBER before the policy changes on 8/17, to avoid the $7 monthly fee, yet I still got the super cheap rate even with two of the sessions charging at a premium pace above 50KW lower pricing tier.

47.024 kWh for about 100 miles of driving comes to 2.12 MPK

Cost of $5.34 comes to $0.05 cents a mile, had I been charged properly, at $0.37 for 36 minutes at $0.37/min it would have cost me $13.32 or $0.13 cents a mile.

That's cheap! For contrast, I charged at Manchester CT this weekend and paid $22.95 for 47.81kWh.

I really didn't need that much to get home... it was cruising along at 163kW, so the line at self-checkout in Walmart cost me an extra $10 in EA fees.

Yeah, I was figuring a bit under 20 cents/kWh for the NH stations with the new rates but I haven't fast charged in a long while so I haven't verified. The Nashua stations are OK but not great. More often than not there's one offline but usually not more than that. I just cancelled my pass+ membership, I hadn't even realized it went to $7. I'm not using DCFC enough to justify it.

My all-in electric rate is going from 0.25/kWh to 0.29/kWh in a few months so still cheaper in NH but quite a bit more in MA.

I’m at the Nahua EA now. For whatever reason it’s charging me the 90kW rate ($0.19/min) and the station gave me 120kw all the way to 80%. Under $0.10/kwh. Score!

i noticed in the app that it thinks that station 3 is a 50kw station. Must’ve been a programming error but it makes that station quite a discount! I almost moved because i thought the charging would be limited to 50kw but i gave it a try anyway and got 120 all the way from 39 to 80%.

The new EA station at the Merrimack Outlets off the Everett Turnpike is open, sort of. There are six 350 kw balanced chargers, but only three are working today. Two are blocked by traffic cones, and one other says on the screen it is unavailable. The charger I used said it was charging at 3kw(!) but I got 8% SOC added to my ER in 5 minutes for $1.75 (on the EA Plus plan). Two Polestar drivers there at the same time had the same experience. My rough estimate says that is a rate of about 125 kw and a cost of a little less than $0.16/kWh. Like the other NH stations, this one is still charging by the minute, not by the kWh.

This station shows up in the EA app but not in my PlugShare. I went to add it in PlugShare but apparently it is there, so I must have some filter applied that screens it out. It is not in my Ford Nav charger list yet, either.

The station is at the far north end of the parking lot.

I didn't know they were putting one in Merrimack. Just one question...WHY? There's already a station in Nashua and Manchester. How about open one NORTH of the area that is already well served. Still no EA stations north of Manchester on 93. Ridiculous.

I'm not sure if anything is slated to open before the end of the year but going all of 2023 without a single DCFC station opening north of Manchester is mindboggling. EV sales are up something like 50% year over year and 300-400% just since 2020 yet we can't get a decent DCFC station in the entire northern three quarters of the state. 🤷‍♂️

Agree. You’d think that tourism traffic alone would justify at least a couple of high speed stations, north and south of the Whites.
