I have a Mach E that I purchased an F150 key fob to have the frunk button, I now have a lightning. Could I program one key fob to both vehicles? I don't trust the phone as a key so I always carry the fob and carrying 2 of them and my other keys in my pocket is getting pretty bulky.

I use PAAK for my Mach-E and hide a fob in a Faraday bag inside the car just in case. I’ve never had to dig the fob out.

I don’t think it’s possible to do what you are asking.

I also had a Mach E. I also bought a fob from a former Mach E member on that blog, because it had four usable buttons instead of the three buttons the Mach E fob had... maybe to use that extra button for the rear hatch? ...just can't remember now.

When I traded the Mach E for my Lightning I easily reprogrammed that extra fob for the Lightning, using the two OEM Lightning fobs (to self-program a fob for free You need two fobs to begin with, plus the new programmable one).

So the point here is that a Mach E fob (or another Ford fob, as my extra fob might have been from a gas Mustang (??) can indeed migrate to a Lightning.

This of course is not a direct answer Your question... and like Maquis above I highly doubt it, as if that were true then fobs could logically be immediately used across a range of Ford cars, without individual programming to a particular car. I do not think Ford Corporate would allow that - think of the liabilities for theft and think about the potential unending mix-ups at any dealership or service shop.

If you could, wouldn’t you be locking and unlocking ALL the doors when everyone was home?

You can setup PAAK for both vehicles on one phone, though.

I have done this before... years ago. I vividly remember, when someone hit the panic button on the fob, one vehicle responded and the other didn't. So I pressed the panic button again and guess what, one shut off and the other one started up! It took a minute but I got it under control. 😂
It can get tricky.

I does work though. Go to YouTube and research how to program the fobs. It's not too difficult.

Short answer no, once you program the key for one vehicle, it erases any other vehicle that may have been in use.

I have both on PAAK. Works fine. If I need to shuffle them around in the driveway, I just take a keyfob for one and PAAK set to the other. Works faster than switching PAAK between EVs when you need to move each a couple of times to get sorted.

I have the same vehicles. I have both on PAAK and I carry the fob for the vehicle I’m driving.

You might be able to get Ford to reprogram one of the vehicles to accept the same code as the other, but I'm doubtful.

Each FOB has a particular frequency they operate at and a particular FCC code number (hidden under the battery cover at the front of the FOB.

It could be the Mach-e and Lightning use the same frequency, they change it between model years sometimes.

With TV sets they make universal remote that can be programmed for a particular TV, VCR, DVD player, and cable/sat box.

But as I understand it, a key FOB can only be programmed to work with one vehicle at a time. One reason is the rolling code feature:

Each time you use the fob, the security code changes. If it is used on a second car, it will go out of sync with the first car.

Maybe there is a FORscan hack that could sync up both vehicles though?
