This seems to be related to the recent cold weather charge port "fix" since before that, all was normal (25.8.5 for MY 2023, 25.13.12 for 2022 MY).

I don't know if that is also related to my frunk opening during the PPOB test with the truck off...it shouldn't be related but the only other update I've had recently was when the mobile tech came and did the tow module one.

WTF, now I have to be watching my Frunk incase it opens on its own???

Good grief.

PS: I did also recently get this: SYNC-25.2.1.6.5.2 but hard to imagine how that would have anything to do with the PPOB? I don't even have SiriusXM capability on my 2023 Pro:

"This software update contains the following key changes:

• We’ve made some disk space enhancements to ensure optimal performance of your vehicle’s SiriusXM service (if applicable)."

Seems like it might be a good idea for everyone who uses PPOB for emergency backup to test theirs to see if it shuts off before the reserve setting is reached.

Do you mean to check that PPOB properly shuts off at the reserve setting?

Yes.

What I observed was it shut off way early.

I had 90% HVB SOC.
The guesstimater said 209 miles (SR battery).
I set the reserve for miles, 119 miles (if I recall correctly).
I started running my house emergency circuits on the PPOB and got involved in doing other things.

I was running the PPOB with the truck OFF - tweaked it with FORscan that day before.

A couple hours later, I looked outside and my Frunk was open?!
No idea what happened- maybe with the truck OFF, the 12v battery got low and the Frunk opened?

Then a while later, the PPOB shut off and the house went dark.

When I checked the truck it was at 86% SOC and a range of 191 miles.

Yes I checked and I hadn't reversed a digit the reserve was set to 119 miles.

So that's what happened to me.

I had run it before without any premature shut off so something changed.

The OP had that happen but he was running it with his truck ON, so it couldn't have been the FORscan tweak.

Indeed, that's why I started this thread. I have been using PPO for a few years and have never had an issue (other than having to have the truck "ON" the whole time...but that's another issue). But lately, after an update, while using it I got the warnings that it was approaching its shutdown reserve. I knew it couldn't be close so just let it go ....sure enough, in about 15 mins it shut down. Looking at the data I could see it was far from the set reserve.....something's wrong!
Now, there's confirmation that I'm not the only one....thanks Chl.

I'm just glad it happened to you first and you found a workaround with the nearby charger used for the reserve!

If it had happened to me while I was backing up my house during an outage, I would have been doubly po-ed.

Now waiting to see if others have the same issue and chime in.

I've had a few OTA's recently but not the one OP suspects to be a culprit, I'll test my PPOB for reliability and operation using the various reserve settings you folks are having issues with, so my findings might not be helpful

Thanks.

We are both driving 2023 Pro's so it might be limited to our year and trim and the possibly one of the two recent OTA's.

I am going to mention it when I have it get the pawl recall taken care of, soon?
Just waiting on my dealership to say they have it.

Also have to mention the Frunk opening all by itself and see what they say.

One other thing I detected was an issue (DTC) of a digital parking assist camera misalignment which I suspect is because they maybe didn't do that when they replaced my left mirror a while back after the hit and run by the uninsured motorist. I tried clearing it, with FORscan but it won't clear.

BTW, when I went in to set the reserve to the nearby charge station, it just defaulted to 10 miles.

I did not even enter and station location, and I've never charged anywhere but home which is zero miles away.

The dealership where I bought it is about 30 miles away, and the closest dealership where I have service done is under 4 miles away.

There are commercial EA chargers less than 2 miles away.

So when I chose nearby station, the truck just defaulted to 10 miles for no apparent reason.

The manual doesn't even mention the two options for the reserve setting.

Go figure!
