I've gotten it a few times, and I think the 6 month mark is only triggered if you start off by opening and closing a rear door.I've turned off the rear occupant alert, but as T.F.M. says:
When you switch the system off, a
message appears every six months as a
reminder that the system is off. You can
switch the system back on or leave it off.
So, it nags one every six months instead of every time a backpack is left on the rear seat. A pretty good design choice IMHO, promoting safety as much as owners will tolerate, without crying wolf and being ignored anyway.
