Range? What's the effect on range of various MPH?

I'm aggressive highway driver so wondering what high MPH (say 75 -82 MPH) does to range?
Also what is the 320 based on - (55 MPH?) Trying to project potential battery charging requirement based on my driving style.

Any facts, ideas, experience is appreciated.
I see you’re down near Houston. I am in the DFW area. I know the climates are quite different even though we’re only a few hours apart. I can make it to Austin No problem on a single charge unless I’m doing around 90 mph then I’ll probably have to stop and get a bit of a charge, (I usually stop around the Buc-ee's in Temple to use the restroom and I get about 15 minute charge (stop, plug-in, walk in, use the restroom, and walk out is about 15 minutes anyway)and then I have enough to get around when I get there) 70-75 is usually not a problem making it all the way, have not driven down I-45 but I’m sure there are plenty of chargers along the way and you will need at least one stop. The wind will be your biggest enemy and best friend as far as how it will affect your range. Once you drive the Lightning on a road trip you won’t want to drive an ICE even though the cost is about the same for road trips! The Lightning is a joy to road trip in even with the extra charging stop(s). It is so smooth and quiet!
One other note, is that in the heat of the summer when it’s 100 give or take my efficiency is usually a little lower than what it is in the 80s like it has been for a few days around here (maybe 10% better??)

great feedback - thank you all - my key "long range" trip will be 80 mi and I'll just have a 240V receptacle on both ends. I do have reason to travel Houston to Dallas (approx 240 mi) but we'll stick to ICE for those trips if I get a Lightning.
Don't fear a charge stop. 240 mile trip means that one bathroom break and a slow walk around the store to buy some snacks will have you topped up enough to comfortably continue on your way.

You hear a lot about "30 minute" or "40 minute" charges, but you dont have to. There is zero need to fill it like a gas car, especially when you have chargers on both ends. Shoving 15 minutes of electrons in it will give you MORE than enough extra juice to do that trip without any worry about range.

Your 320 comment is funny! But I'm trying to figure out some realistic expectations in a very HOT environment: we have 2 seasons in Houston >>> SUMMER (90+) and 2 weeks of winter - so I'll be running AC 95% of time. On one route I travel frequently speed limit is 75 MPH (we have some 80 & 85 in TX) And I currently keep my truck outside, so it's always HOT before I even hit the road...
Worst I’ve gotten is traveling 85-90mph, AC set to 68F when it was hot and humid outside was 1.6mi/kWh. That translates to 210miles. I needed to stop around 180 as it was a bit of a charging desert.

Scale it down a tad to 75-80 and it’ll go up to 1.8-2.0mi/kWh.

Those are at fast but consistent speeds. If you throw in hard braking, hard acceleration, take another 10-15% off of that.

I have found anything that gives you good mileage in an ice truck will give you worse mileage in an electric. Around town bad for ice goodfor electric. Steady cruise speed good for ice bad for electric.

Multiple studies have shown that with this truck, considering it is a bit of a brick, is highly impacted by driving high speed. I've learned over the last 2.5 years that 70 miles an hour is the sweet spot. If you drive faster than that, you will drain your battery much faster and get worse economy and end up spending more time at a charger or having to make a separate charge completely. 70 miles an hour and gets you where you need to go efficiently and on the long-term much faster.
If you're considering getting a lightning, do it. It's the best vehicle I've ever owned and I've owned everything. The smooth silence, power, tons of extra room, handling, this truck is a masterpiece.

This is my experience too, I dial the speed down or up depending on head/tail wind while watching my estimated battery level at my destination.

You don't need to stick to ICE for this trip. You simply need to add an extra 30-40 minutes to charge halfway through and at the end. You need to get out, stretch your legs use the toilet and get a bite to eat anyway.

I always tell people if that's an inconvenience, you're trying to do too much in a day that includes 4+ hours of driving.
Being in the BSA, I opt to not to take my F150L for longer trips. At times, I usually have 2-3 scouts with me while driving, and while I believe they would be fine I don't like to stop for a long session with others not in my family.

If I was with my family however, I would have no issues.

I play the acceleration game. Lol
If i gun it, it try and get it back with braking inertia. On my daily commute, speed does impact range for sure. But i, daily drive about 40 miles one way and i can build mileage of about 7 miles per daily. Depends on what mood im in and if sleep token is blaring. Lol

270 is the best I have ever seen at 100%.

I have made several Houston to Dallas trips. If I leave south of Houston at 100%, I can make it to Ennis if I do 68 to 69 and have 20% left and hit the Tesla superchargers behind Buc-ee. If I speed up to 75, I can only make it to Centerville. 80 gets me to Madisonville and then would require a second stop before Dallas.

68 to 69 seems to be the sweet spot for me. Set the Blue Cruise, click back and relax. Amazing the difference in how I feel after that trip when using Blue Cruise and not.

Now why do you want to try and get this off-topic with that comment? I'm still in BSA and proud of it's impact on young men and women. Have counseled over 200 Eagle Scouts and they are what give me hope for their impact on the future.

Let's not stir something up here. There are other forums for that.

Great info - as I stated I'm aggressive and typically stay ahead of the pack and avoid clusters; so I am learning here my results (without habit change) will be on the low side: but my wife will appreciate if the Lightning slows me down a bit!:)
