This mornings experience:

The default setting is OFF for seat & wheel heat.
Ford F-150 Lightning Remote start HVAC control 1746026370230-wm

Truck started this morning on time via departure timer, the Fordpass climate control panel still had my Tuesday afternoon chilled seats active, switched that back to heated seats and also switched on the heated wheel for testing purposes, I really didn't need it to be warmed up. The departure ran its course.

I went out to the truck, the time limit had expired so the truck was now off.

Push to start button, Sync booted up, indicator for heated seats and wheel were off, but the seat and wheel were actually warmed previously by the special commands sent from Fordpass by my 15 minutes earlier.

Later today on our afternoon trip, departure timer will kick on, I'll switch the heating features off and chill my seats.

That's the way it's been for a couple of years, buggs or not.

Until the controls were added to the app, I never had an issue. For almost 2.5 years if I remote started and it was cold - the truck heated, if it was warm the truck cooled, including seats and steering wheel.

Truly it seems the app is overriding the truck default of "Auto" (I've got HVAC and seats/wheel all set to auto). I'm ok with the overriding being there if I want it, but it shouldn't take precedence.

Is there perhaps a difference between preconditioning and remote starting? I would not think so but…
From what I have gathered reading this thread @GDN is talking about remote starting?
I generally do not use remote start to cool down the vehicle until it gets above maybe 90°to95° so I have not really used it this year yet.

The only problem if I do that in the summer is then it interferes with my dinner cooking in the truck???

You are correct that I am only referring to Remote Start. Open the app, click on the "Fan blade" icon.

I forgot to mention I also leave mine set on Auto and I agree that when I have used it in the past, it has always either warmed the truck or cooled the truck based on outside temp. I generally leave mine (Auto setting) right around 75° but when it gets really hot or really cold I go up or down 2 to 3°. I have not used it since it was really cold so I don’t know if it has changed now or if it is your beta or whatever.

For shizz & giggles, I'm switching off my departure time events (master off) switch.

I'll punch the FAN icon in the morning.

I expect the climate panel control will still reflect the chilled seats active as last used this afternoon, I'll change it to warming.

In the afternoon test will use the remote start and I'll flip all the features off to see if the SYNC system will do it's magic to chill the seats automatically.

The cabin temperature is dynamic based on your prefered setting on sync, but here too, we have the slider to make changes during the remote or departure timed events, I usually leave that at 72 degrees year round, that's our comfort level regardless of the outside temps being zero or 100 degrees.

It appears I'm reviving a thread that's over a year old, but I did a search and found that some of you have experienced something similar.

Temps have been in the 90's the last week or so here in Upstate NY. Before I leave work, I remote start the truck via the app by clicking on the fan-Climate button. I can see the white lights on my truck activate from my office window a few seconds later, indicating it has "remote started". This is what appears on my app (note the seats show three blue dots):

About 10-15 minutes later, I get in the truck and it is obvious that the drivers seat heater is on rather than the cooling.

When I press the seat icon on the Sync screen, it shows three red dots under the seat (heating) rather than the blue dots (cooling).

I checked the remote start setup in the vehicle settings via the Sync screen and both climate control and seats & steering wheel are set to AUTO:

How do I get the seats to cool when remote starting and the temperature outside is HOT?

On occasion, I'll cycle through the Cool or Warm levels then transmit an EXTEND command, that usually ensures the proper mode of operation has been received by the truck.

Also make sure the temperature level is corrected, you're showing HI aka (HOT), lower that to 60's or COLD (LOW)

This is likely 100% of the problem. The seats don't cool, they just circulate air from the cabin into the seat. If the air in the cabin is hot, then it will blow that hot air into/through the seats. The button on the screen always defaults to heat on the seats, if it wasn't on already. I think lowering the temperature slider to a cooler temp should do the trick.

i incorrectly believed that the HI-LO slider was for the fan setting.

Once I activated the remote start and moved the slider, numbers appeared, indicating the temperature.

I set the slider to 66 and the seats cooled and A/C was on.

Thank you for the help addressing my issue, now resolved.

I use mine all the time, and every time I press the CLIMATE 'fan' button, it pops up a "75degrees" screen, with a SLIDER to change that temperature...

now, there may be an 'settings' on the truck center screen to provide this starting temp, which wouldn't matter whether a/c or heat, as the truck would know which to use...
