If only we had this kind of efficiency. 10.3 mi/kwh over 2 miles! If that was the case all of the time, the range of my ER Lightning would be 1349 miles! IF ONLY!

lol, this is the start of every trip for me. I live on the top of a mountain, and all the roads into town are downhill. I sometimes worry that if I start off at 100% charge (rare, for long trips/hauling), I'll go to 105% on the way down with the regen.

Did you read that some journo just got 1000+ miles (driving very slowly) in a Silverado EV? Crazy...

Some day...

Quarry dump trucks that mine on a mountain and come down loaded are in regen mode all the way down the mountain. They are fully charged from the regen on their trip back up the mountain while empty. These dump trucks use electric drive and batteries and never have to charge for this task. How cool is this????

I spent a few weeks in the LA area helping a family member. This family member hates traffic lights and stop signs, and also hates the freeway. So we stuck to 35 mph roads that didn’t have many stops. Four times while running errands, I would get 8 miles/kWh for a 40-mile round trip. Every time I visit now, I stick to those roads.

I read that article about the chevy, and that is awesome. Also the ramcharger erev is going to be able to get 1000 miles on a charge and uses a generator to keep the battery running. Anything under 50 miles is just battery, so short trips are all battery and beyond that it is a small gas generator that keeps you running. Pretty damn cool. All these issues with ford battery modules are not good, but I was treated very well by pat miliken ford when i had to have battery module 1 and 2 replaced.

It is not a small gas generator. It is a 3.6 liter V6 engine. Nothing small about it.

The range is 690, not 1,000 miles.

Yeah, and it's basically just a large PHEV, not really "cool" in my book since PHEVs are just many of the maintenance and moving parts complexities of a regular ICE vehicles combined with the wiring/electronics of a BEV. Just doubling everything that could go wrong, and then the cherry on top is having Stellantis build it. Which, Ford hasn't been rock solid clearly, but if you follow the plug in hybrid Pacifica groups it makes Ford look like a reliability champion.

I definitely see the positives though of the RAMCharger, especially for those that tow regularly but have been avoiding entering the BEV space because of the headaches of charging with a trailer. But unless you have towing reasons to get one, you aren't likely to benefit from the "range extender" aside from increased maintenance and potential reliability headaches.

The main difference between the Ram truck and a PHEV is that the gas engine has no connection to the drivetrain. In a PHEV, when the battery is empty you can drive on full gas, whereas this vehicle charges the battery all the time.

I agree, would never consider a Stellantis vehicle. Sold our Dodge minivan in 2012 and would never go near that brand again.

Yup, that is what I read, regarding the powertrain. Very cool in my opinion. I also read that it got 989 miles of range, but perhaps that was a generous expectation by dodge. Either way 700 miles of range is dope and that is way more range than any of the other domestic EV carmakers rn.

Because it is not an EV... It is a hybrid.
