That's the question of the day....I'm honestly very conflicted about it. I've loved my Lightning, but I'll admit that I'm considering going back to an ICE truck. At this moment I'm undecided.
Suggest you drive an ICE truck around for 2 weeks before deciding, then remember the extra maintenance, then decide.

My sister’s BF just bought a 23 F-150 Tremor & it’s nice, but I’d still pick my Lightning 9/10. Only thing I miss about my ICE F-250 was the exhaust noise, but I have 2 bikes that make up for that.

As I've been reading through your tale I've been asking myself this question as well. Thankfully, I'm not in a situation where I need to replace my Lightning but if I were I don't know what I'd do. It would be real hard to go to less than 580hp. A Rapter R would be a nice upgrade but that sweet engine is where my luggage and golf clubs go. Maybe an electric GM truck, but no Android Auto would be a bummer. I think there's a good chance I would end up in a Lightning again.

Everyone is different though. What's right for me isn't necessary right for you.

I'm all but certain that I would be EV again. The price of used is so much less now than new, that would likely be the way to go. Wasn't available when I boughtine. We are EV only, and don't miss anything about ICE, with the possible exception of some really thin charging areas.

I'm open to your suggestion. What would you settle for if you were me?
I don't really know. It seems the offer is in the ball park based on the used market, but I guess the value also depends how the truck was optioned.. You seemed to imply the offer was low so I was interested in what you thought.

Maybe you can put the vehicle info in some of the online purchase sites and see what they would offer. Last time I checked, Carvana had a decent offer.

Just had the 10,000 mile maintenance done on our Lightning.....$38.54....for inspection and tire rotation...our other vehicle is a Highlander Hybrid and we use it for fast/far roadtrips...long story short, I have needed to do a lot of interstate traveling last few months...two oil changes in the last 4 months have cost me a total of $185...yeah, I can't wait to go full EV.

Since the crash, I’ve been driving a spare Honda Civic on my 80 mile daily commute. It gets amazing gas mileage at around 36. Yesterday I almost ran out of gas because I'm not in the habit of checking the fuel gauge anymore! I feel like I’m driving a go-cart and will get squashed at any moment by a texting soccer mom in a Suburban! I simply hate most everything about ICE vehicles now. šŸ‘Ž

I can’t imagine a better vehicle for what I do than the Lightning. It's the only EV I would currently even consider. It's the best vehicle on the planet (for me). But when something in the Lightning fails and needs service, it can be one of the most frustrating vehicles to own.

I’ve been through one ā€œred ring of deathā€ incident in my Lightning resulting in a module replacement (and still harbor a bit of anxiety in the back of my mind that it’ll happen again) And I’m concerned about Ford’s move away from the Lightning and lack of future service and support.

That said, I absolutely haven’t ruled out buying another Lightning and happily moving forward as though none of this had happened. As I said….I’m very conflicted. šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

Well now’s the time to get one since the $7500 goes away sep. 1st. Of mine got totaled tomorrow I’d be at a dealer buying another Lightning immediately! 😁

Don’t lose sight of the EV credit , if you qualify, that is still available until September of this year. That could help take a little of the sting out of a low end settlement. Not saying you should settle, just saying.

Strong possibility the price of new EVs drops when the tax credit goes away.
If you recall, every manufacturer jacked their prices up accordingly the day after the 7500 incentive was announced.

1. The first offer from any insurance company is always low. That's how they play game. They rely on the fact that most guys won't question their numbers. I'm not that guy. :punch:

2. Carvana doesn't buy cars at market value. Why would I accept their valuation?

3. My truck was built 12/23 and I bought it brand new on June 25, 2024 with full factory warranty. Yet Allstate's valuation actually deducted $3,000 from my truck compared to their 2023 comps for something they call "Condition Adjustment". My truck was in pristine condition and likely in better shape and has more remaining warranty than most 2024 Lightnings purchased in the first half of 2024. So how likely is it that every 2023 comp they presented in their valuation is $3,000 better than my truck? This deduction is completely bogus and they know it. I have asked them to provide their supporting documentation for this (which they can't) and to toss out all of the 2023 comps and declare that the "Effective Model Year" of my truck to be 2024 and to value it as such.

4. They gave no allowance for my "Loss of use". I declined the lovely Ford Edge rental that they offered, but I'm still entitled to loss-of-use compensation.

I've submitted my Counter Offer, and Allstate has acknowledged that they received it.
So again we wait... :wait:

Yesterday ended up being Settlement Day! :handsinair: After a few days of emails and phone calls, I was able to get them to increase the total settlement amount by about $1,500. Not as much as I'd hoped, but worth the effort to dispute their initial valuation. Final settlement is $44,735.

Now it's decision time.....What to buy? What to buy?

My next EV truck will most likely be the T3 or the Slate that I have reserved (if either one actually materializes)

I have reserved to add to the EV garage we seem to be developing.
