Honest question though: is it fair to compare all F-150s against just the Cybertruck? Last year Ford sold 732K F-series trucks so that's like 10% and so far this year numbers are up. My quick search of just new Lightnings on Cars.com yields just under 5K.
I don't see why not, it's one model vs one model. Maybe we normalize by total revenue to get a better idea of who has more $$ on the lot.

10,000 trucks in inventory doesn't sound like a crazy number to me.

The article seems like a pile-on. I'm fine with that.
they have only sold about 40k trucks in 2 years. 10k is two years worth of inventory. it's an enormous amount. imagine if Ford had 70,000 lightnings sitting on lots around Dearborn.

But you offered nothing to refute either.

Regardless, it is clear CT is a sales tu*d.
He didn't have to. The article was nothing but a put down. The article offered no insight on what the company is doing about it if anything. It was just another hate on Tesla article. Meanwhile, Tesla is still selling cars, you are having a nice time with your truck Ct owner are having a nice time with theirs. In the words of Rodney King, "Can we all just get along?"

sw engineering manager,
Slate going to eat into Tesla and Rivian likely more than Ford.
Slate needs AWD to really generate some interest in places where it snows.

"Lies, Damn Lies and Statistics"

The beauty of statistics is that you can prove whatever you want, just modify the data set to suit your agenda.

Why not include all Ford Trucks vs. all Tesla Trucks, or all Fords vs. all Teslas, or maybe all Fords in Dearborn MI vs. Teslas in Saskatchewan ?

newer one:
https://www.warrantyweek.com/archive/ww20250227.html
"February 27, 2025
U.S. Auto Warranty Annual Reports:
For the third quarter in a row, total warranty claims paid, accruals made, and reserves held collectively set new record highs amongst the three largest U.S.-based auto OEMs, Ford, GM, and Tesla. Ford and GM set aside even more additional funds as changes of estimate to accruals from previous quarters."

Damn those stats are ugly. Worldwide reports are interesting as well. Neat resource.

Perhaps, for different reasons. My guess is that tariffs have nothing to do with Cybertruck sales or lack thereof.

I asked Mr. Google how many cybertrucks are unsold, which lead me to this site (referenced in an Elektrek article):

Looks like it spiked at 10k and people latched on to that? Webpage says these numbers are updated as of a month ago.

Should we take a look at how many F150's are on lots? According to a nationwide search on Cars.com, there are over 70,000. Let's say half of that is the actual number and an average price of $40k, that's 1.4 Billion (with a `B`) in inventory. So what does that mean?

I need that blink gif..

Are you serious? A vehicle sells over 700,000 units a year, and has 10% inventory (if that is correct) representing just over 30 days of inventory, vs ...

Nevermind.

Are you serious? Best I can find is that 700k number is for all F series, including 250 and 350. The number of just f150 is around 460k. So roughly 2 months.

According to Forbes, around 39k cybertrucks where sold last year and 6k for q1 2025. So Tesla has about 6 months worth sitting around. 3x worse, bad but not absurdly bad. CarEdge reports the Ford Escape has a 5 month supply on lots.

Headline was about the dollar amount of inventory on lots, I made a similar claim for Ford. Yeah, Tesla is not doing well, but it isn't out of the normal for many other makes and models.
