Do I need to have a specific update to be able to charge at new V4 tesla superchargers? Twice it didn't work for me at different locations.
- 1st one was in Austin TX
- 2nd one was today at the Buccees in Texas City south of Houston.

In both cases the error message i get is there is a station fault! No matter what i do, change station it does not work at all. When i use ford pass to activate the station the app shows that it is activated but the truck does not get charged. What am I missing here?

Nope I don't use Tesla app. I use mainly plug and charge for Tesla stations and it works like a charm on old charging stations. I have no luck with V4s so far.

Try using the app to get a charger assignment.

Plug and charge, is that in the app? I tried using a couple of Tesla charge stations near me, they looked like they'd been there a while so I don't know what version they were but neither one would work. I'm probably doing it wrong is why I ask.

Yes plug and charge gets activated with the ford pass app. As it says you just plug and your charging session starts. Should work for Tesla and EA.

If you're using superchargers regularly (or even more than once a month), the 12.99 membership and using the tesla app pays for itself in no time. Looks like the ones at the Bucees are magic dock enabled. Were you using the magic dock or your adapter?

What location? If they have a silver collar on the handle, those are v2s and not compatible. If it's black and the stalls are red/white, those are v3s with the short cables that you almost have to bump into to use. V4s will be white/black and have longer cables. Not all v3/v4 stations have been activated for non-teslas and mixed v2 and v3 locations won't work either so ymmv if you're just stopping at a random station. Your 25 should have tesla stations in the nav or you can use the tesla app (selecting your vehicle as the lightning) and it will show compatible stations.

So you set up the Ford Blue Oval Charge Network with a payment source then it automatically kicks on when you plug in? If that's the case then I know why it didn't work, at that point I hadn't initiated the BO charge yet.

Black handles, red/white stall that I had to hug up to.

1. You need to know if the superchargers are open to all or only Tesla.-you can use the Tesla app to check or another app like PlugShare.
2. If you don’t have plug and charge set up then you have to use the Tesla app. Or the app for whatever brand charger you are using if it does not have credit card acceptance at the unit.

The Supercharger in Webster Tx IS NOT compatible with “other EV’S”
LOOK closely at the three types of symbols on the Tesla Superchager find us website.
A ⚡symbols means Tesla only
A ((⚡)) means CCS1 magic dock available for other EV’s
A NACS plug symbol means available for other EV’s but adaptor required.

Also note if charging fees are not listed for “other EV’s” the station is not compatabe .
Here is an example of the 3 types of symbols

Ford F-150 Lightning Tesla V4 not working for me IMG_0423

If you use the Tesla app there is no symbols difference, you must select the site and the description says either Tesla or Tesla + other EV’s.

As a Tesla owner, it’s kinda annoying how the beautiful simplicity of the Supercharger network has been complicated by making them available to ”other” EV’s. Especially when many “other” EV owners have typically been unsupportive of the brand, the car, haters, whatever. Didn’t want to buy a Tesla car, didn’t like those who have, but more than happy to expect access to the brand’s beautiful charging network.(rant over)
As a Lightning owner, it is nice to have access to the network because Tesla Superchargers are so easy, reliable, consistent, intuitive & widely available.
All things the 3rd party DCFC’s are NOT!

I have encountered this exact issue at Buc-ee's in FL, the Tesla chargers do NOT work with my Lightning or Chevy Bolt BUT the Mercedes Benz chargers at the other end of the parking lot work just fine. When I look closely in the Tesla App, it does NOT say they are available to OTHER EV's. It must say that for them to work, doesn't matter what Version dispenser. I was told by the manager at Buc-ee's that they (Buc-ee's) own those chargers and they are only enabled for Tesla EVs.

I also encountered this at a Tesla station in NJ on a road trip, it was my guess that the shopping mall made them only available to Tesla vehicles.
