The tinting/film on my F-150 Platinum Lightning is pealing away after less than two years ownership. Because it has 40,189 miles Ford says they may offer some partial payment only if I take it to a Ford Dealer and get them to send it out for an estimate.
Joke for $100,000 vehicle.

Anyone else have this occurring?

thanks

There are posts about this, simple search...here's the first thread search suggested.

https://www.f150lightningforum.com/forum/threads/flaking-on-lightning-front-grille.28266/

There are options: wrapping, painting, plasti-dip or line-x/rhino-line.

Seems like even those still under warranty aren't 100% successful at getting it swapped for free. Since you are already out of 3/36, I would look at taking care of on your dime (sorry).

Some examples:

Line-x: https://www.f150lightningforum.com/forum/attachments/img_6483-jpeg.82377/

Plasti-dip (mine): https://www.f150lightningforum.com/forum/attachments/grill3-jpg.98164/

Painted: https://www.f150lightningforum.com/forum/attachments/20240701_162335-jpg.85944/

That looks like a Platinum if that is correct, there have been several complaints about the black chipping and peeling.

Here is YouTube Vid on repainting those. Apparently it’s not just prep, sand and paint.

Mine hasn't peeled, but got small, circular chips from about mile 500 (I have 90k, now). It's obviously a terrible coating for a grill, and it's a shame that Ford won't make this right with a CSP. I'd rather have the non-platinum grill to this. My local line-x shop wouldn't even look at it for recoating.

I am in the same boat. 22 platinum. 30k miles. Going to try dealer soon. @Ford Motor Company any help getting them to understand the issue is not normal wear.

Where did you get this done. I’ve tried several shops and nobody would wrap my grill. They all say they can’t wrap plastic.
Sure hope that’s not true cause I am looking forward to DIYing my future SLATE pickup truck. And we need to tell them because they been displaying a ton of wrapped examples. 😉

Well that is total bullshit. I suggest finding a more reputable shop. It's easily done, dozens of people have done it. Mine is flawless. You can use my example as proof.
Cost me $180 and still looks as shiny, dent and defect free as the day I had it done.
Your shops are lazy and inexperienced lol.

Yeah, it's easily done and whoever says it can't be done doesn't know what they're talking about, are inexperienced, or just plain lazy. Mine looks brand new after 46,000 miles and I do a lot of highway travel, it's virtually impervious to rocks and chips and temperature and sunlight and everything else.

I have tried 3 different shops around town including a body shop. Got a quote to paint it for 980$. You paid 180$ ??!!!! Wow. I need to go to your shop. Thanks for the info at least I know it can be done.
