Hey all,

I am unable to reset the FCSP. I reset breakers, removed dark start batteries, i held the button down. Nothing. Ford keeps kicking the can down the road. Over the last couple years, there are have been software updates next month... that almost never came or fixed the issue.

Anyone ever deal with this?

it’s not resetting. Therefore it’s not broadcasting a wifi signal to be added to the app or paired to the truck.

You mentioned dark start batteries so I am guessing you have the Home Integration System (HIS)?

Communications has been a long standing bugaboo with operating the HIS via the FCSP, from what I have read. Lots of threads to read if you want, but frustrating and no real fixes from what I've read.

If you just want to connect the FCSP to the Ford app, it can take a bunch of tries and resets. I lost track of how many times I had to reset and start over. Below are a few things that I learned that worked.

To reset the FCSP, you need to hold the red button on the circuit board for at least 30 seconds, longer won't hurt - it initiates a system reset - yes the guide says 15 to 30 seconds but in my experience, 30 seconds or more is more reliable.

The wifi signal is not very strong and connecting using 2.4G vs 5G is better because it travels farther and through walls better. I found using a repeater located nearer the FCSP worked more reliably than the main router. Make sure your phone is on that same wifi device and 2.4G signal.

Sometimes you have to search for the wifi signal repeatedly - who knows why but it happened to me when trying to do the set up app.

Contact the Ford customer service phone line listed in the FCSP install guide and tell them you are trying to set it up with the app. Some of the helpers are better than others though and they have dealt with FCSP setup problems repeatedly from what they told me.

You can still charge your truck by just plugging it into the truck right?

Use the truck menu to set up a location - home - and the time of day to start charging and the percentage to stop at (e.g., 80% or 90%).

Many of use have had issues setting the FCSP up, some lucky few had none.

Be patient and persistent and eventually you might get lucky and get it connected to the Ford app!

Yes, this is my issue too. Someone from Ford is coming out next week to "look at the situation" and not actually bring a new charging station.

Just think about this.

They're sending someone from Ford to my home to look at the installation and confirm what I'm experiencing... for the nth time (I've lost track of the number of units I've had)

Worst still, if you do a factory reset, the HIS stops connecting to your truck in a power cut.

$10,000... 4 years... and apple of poop.

I don’t have the HIS, so I don’t know if this helps, but I have been able to connect to my FCSP by manually typing in the SSID and password on my phone when it wasn’t broadcasting.

Truck still
Charges.
No matter how long I hold the button, the charger will not reset.

yeah all I’m trying to do is pair it to the truck. That’s it.

Now I'm confused. What do you mean "pair it to the truck"? The FCSP connects to your WiFi in order for the App to see it, but I'm not aware of the truck having any connection to the FCSP other than of course, charging. Or is this something specific to HIS as chi speculated?

@Pitbull2o08, I've only reset my FCSP once using the factory reset button inside. I had trouble getting the LEDs near the factory reset button to flash. According to the following two old posts, after holding the reset button down > 30 seconds and not getting the LEDs to flash, powering the FCSP off and on again with its breaker caused the reset LEDs to flash successfully. After restoring FCSP Wi-Fi that way, I then soft factory reset the FCSP through the FordPass app, which restored FCSP BT broadcasting. To BT repair my FCSP with my truck, I also had to factory reset the truck. It took at least 6 hours for the truck to recover all its modules before I could successfully BT-pair my FCSP with my truck.

Do you mean pairing to Ford App, so that you can see the "Settings and Insights" Stats' in the Energy Tab / Charge Station function?

If so, the couple times I went through the set-up script it would seem to fail, but eventually the FCSP would just show up after a day or two, this is assuming the FCSP got connected to your wifi network.

Same here.

Changing to 2.4G wifi and putting a repeater closer to the FCSP made it more reliable at picking up the wifi signal from the FCSP - the wifi seems to be pretty weak from the FCSP.

If you know how log, into / check your router and see if the FCSP wifi signal is detected at all - it should show up in the list of devices if it is.

Move your network wifi device closer to the FCSP and/or get a repeater and put it near the FCSP.

If all else fails to establish a wifi connection, just use it as a dumb/plug and play charger, no point torturing yourself with trying to get connected to the APP.

If your FCSP IS talking to the wifi, then eventually it will update the software and firmware and then maybe the connection to the APP will work better.

That happened to mine around Mar 2025 when I couldn't get past the last step of the set-up which was adding the FCSP to the FordPass app for months (June 2024 to Mar 2025).

I had similar problems with my original charge station Pro. Let me try to remember what happened exactly, there is some hardware bug that causes the modem to essentially die at some point with a lot of these units. If you find that Wi-Fi doesn't work, the Bluetooth module will not work either and as a result, the home integration system cannot transfer. The solution to this from Ford's tech support will be to reset the charge station Pro. First they will guide you through the soft reset process, but if that fails, which it will because there is no connectivity, they'll tell you to open up the unit and press and hold thie little red reset button, if you hold it for for 30 seconds, the unit is supposed to reboot and reset. My original unit I could hold this button forever and nothing happened. I suspect the same hardware fault has happened to yours, if that's the case, unfortunately the only solution is a replacement unit.

I would recommend contacting Sunrun and seeing if they can send out a tech, show them that the system will not transfer to the home integration system and cannot be paired with the truck. Referencing the fact that the unit has no Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connectivity. I had to really push them to this conclusion that the charge station was the problem. Once I did though they contacted ford and arranged a replacement unit mailed out, as it was defective, under warranty.

If you're unsure that this is the issue I would recommend performing a cold reboot of the whole system upon powering on, the Ford charge station should broadcast its internal Wi-Fi or connect to your Wi-Fi. If it does neither this is likely the issue.

Also, if you have opened the unit and pressed the reset button for an extended period and no reset occurred then I would say that the hardware is defective as that is not how the button is supposed to operate.

Hopefully this helps...
