Used my Lightning to power amateur radio field day

June 28-29 was the annual field day for amateur radio. Stations are operated on emergency power for a period of 24 hours making as many contacts as possible across the world on the amateur radio frequency bands. Here are some photos of a 3 station operation powered by my lightning.

Thanks for posting that. I am also a ham and have operated Field Day, but did not this year. I have also thought about powering a Field Day station from my Lightning.

I have a technician’s license but rarely make use of it. I pull my radio out whenever there’s a fire in the area so I can monitor the incident response team conversation and know a little early if there’s any danger to my area.

I got an FCC First Class Radio-Telephone Operator's License back in 1978 when I was thinking about working at a TV or FM radio station before deciding to study engineering in college when my first child came along.

When I was younger, my dad passed along this old Westinghouse Aeriola Sr. Receiver to me that his family used to use back in the day. Sparked my interest in things electronic I guess.
