I have been wanting to upgrade to a truck or SUV for a while. I first considered the Toyota RAV-4 Prime. Then the Lightning came along and blew my mind! I can't wait to get it!

did we just become best friends?

Haha! Nice stable. Personally I think a electric pickup and two Porsches is a perfect mix. :)

The Lightning will replace my 2015 F-150 and 2013 Chevy Volt. Wife’s car is a 2018 Pacifica Hybrid.

We have had a lot of cars over the years of all different makes and body types. Most didn't stick around too long. Of the three we have now (Transit 350, Porsche Macan S, Subaru Outback, oh and an old Sienna parked elsewhere we rarely use), I'd like to see the F150 replace the Macan S and Outback. Too much to ask? The Macan S is super comfy and a pleasure to drive, but it's a city car, not a good fit for wet and muddy outdoor fun. The Outback has the outdoors covered but it's not a joy to drive. At 125k miles it already burns a lot of oil, so I wouldn't bet money on it lasting forever either (we had an Accord that we sold with 270k miles and that Sienna engine keeps running even if everything else on the car is falling apart).

I was pleasantly surprised by the Mach E. It's not as nice as the Porsche but not way behind either, and it's cheaper, electric, and the infotainment is light years ahead of the Porsche which balances things out. If you think infotainment doesn't matter, try fighting with some stupid interface to do basic tasks and throw in a sprinkling of good 'ole European electronic glitches and funkiness. I don't think infotainment alone can make a car, but it can ruin the overall experience. For example, the rear view cam will get stuck on or randomly turn on when in drive and flip out that I'm going to collide with my own trailer hitch. Last night it did this as I'm on the freeway (the hitch is from the factory too, what the heck). It turned off after a couple of minutes. Earlier in the drive, the front collision sensors triggered for 30 seconds with no one in sight. I've owned a Saab and Volvo and realize this stuff is normal in those cars.

Just picked up the ID.4 today and we really love it. We’ve planned on replacing it with our R1S reservation, but the VW is a lot better than we expected for a much lower price. May be justification for building the Lightning a little higher than planned ?

I can tell you that the battery pack on an ID4 (same as the ID3 we are testing) is built like a tank! A solid framework and I'm not sure I will be able to do the SAE J2464 penetration test on the module, but I should find out next week. ;)
