Why does opening the frunk turn off HVAC?

I guess I just start cooling it ahead of time, jump in, start it, then do whatever I need to do in the frunk (load groceries, etc). Not the most convenient workaround but it works.

Since early on we've known of this 'feature' and your solution is what I do as well.

Adapt and overcome.

It's not a fluke, it's designed that way so it doesn't get remote started during service, whether by selecting in the app or scheduled departure time. It's a safety feature for the lightning.

just curious if little annoyances like this are what makes a "software defined vehicle" easier to deal with when It comes to OTA updates.

is it possible for ford to do a software update to change this frunk HVAC issue or is it completely out of the question due to the way everything is wired and programmed?

even something as simple as the powered side view mirrors in my pro. I would love ford to add the ability for the mirrors to tilt downward when putting the truck into reverse. seems like such an easy thing to implement but again I have no idea how all the wiring harnesses and multiple chips communicate with each other in a traditional vehicle design.

I complained about this too... But more so for shutting off heat in freezing Canadian winters.... Defeats the purpose of remote start when loading groceries in the frunk. Was told what others mentioned.. Programmed with legacy ICE reasoning and should be changed. Luckily we have OTA updates for such things, right Brian @ Ford.... I mean its only been 5 Years for this simple fix but I am sure it will be coming soon™
