The Charger is actually built into the vehicle. The Level 2 EVSE you install at your home only supplies AC voltage to the vehicle's On Board Charger.

The Dual OBC found in all Ford Lightning ER trucks prior to 2024 was an effective 80amp charger and can output 19.2kW. The Single OBC found in the SR trucks and most 2024+ Lightnings is a 48amp charger and can output 11.5kW.

For 2024 only Lightning Pro can be equipped with Dual OBC as an option for Fleet customers.

His question was if he could do it under these circstances. A long range Tesla would do it. Ioniq 6 or even 5, kia ev6, rivian, etc could do it. The ER lightning could do it.
My point is that a truck is not a good option for commuting efficiently for one person at those distances. A cheap 4 banger car would be better suited.

I would do this in my SR but as others said, you’d want have reliable DC chargers along the route for nasty days or days the L2 charger at work is busy or broken.

Sounds right to me. Start at 100% with a departure time/precondition and it really shouldn't be a problem.

That seems to be accurate BUT will you be able to totally recharge at home during your very inexpensive Off Peak Rate hours? You would need to replenish 55% of the battery to go from 35% to 90%. The 2024 ER battery can max charge at 48 amps on a 60 amp circuit if you have an EVSE that has the capability. 55% is about 72 kWhs of electricity.

Check my math:
Considering a 10% efficiency loss on the charger

• At 48 amps (11.5 kWs) it would take about 7 hours
• At 40 amps (9.6 kWs) it would take about 8.3 hours
• at 30 amps (7.2 kWs) it would take 11.1 hours

He should be able to recharge, even if spread within TOU limits over 2 days (Mon/Tue then Wed/Thur)

So I adjusted for 20 degree weather (both legs) and 90% start charge and it says I arrive home with 20+%

That would mean I would use 120kw of energy for 256ish miles 2.1m/kw?
The calculator is accurate on my tesla from last weeks cold snap- but 2.1m at 20 degrees seems like quite a stretch for the Lightning?
