No accident that I’m aware of. Bought used and clean Carfax. I’ve called Ford N.A. and they’re in agreement with the dealer that the hv cable is not covered the way the warranty is written. I’ve also passed the 36k miles mark, so no dice bumper to bumper.
Make sure to reach out to the Ford BEV team. The number is available here somewhere

I’m sorry this happened to you but I am curious how much you were charged for this repair?
The repairs haven’t been completed. So far, I’m being threatened with about 7700 for the harness r/r and about 5-600 for the heater module.

Yeah, I would definitely not only want to see the harness, but visually inspect, and test it to high heaven at that price. I have bench equipment to get to 400-600v, but it'd be like 2-3A ntm nothing that even to even draw the voltage. I guess you could measure the wire gauge and test it at a lower voltage ĀÆ\_(惄)_/ĀÆ
Best of luck with it!

Agreed. I was thinking of sending it off to test and report. Just don’t know where to send. I wonder if Ford could test it at another dealership? Idk if they even have that capacity.

They just referred me to the dealer again. They couldn’t name the specific components. Wtf Ford? I’m starting to waiver in my loyalty with Ford now unfortunately.

Sadly . . there are a LOT of mediocre folks out there preforming their jobs , , ,JUST to get by.
I worked with some doozie's. It is exceptional to be able to get a group of folks together that are dedicated to their job, and go the extra mile for ...whom ever.
I think were seeing that now... sad.
They get the big picture, but when you zoom in . . there are a lot of missing pixels...if you get my drift...

You know what puzzles me?

The heating (the PTC) is powered by the HV battery at 400VDC+, right?

But when the truck is plugged into a FCSP for example, but the truck is 'off' and not charging, the FCSP provides energy to keep the battery warm on cold nights.

Presumably the HVB contactors are open/unconnected yet the heating is happening through the FCSP connection.

So is the PTC getting 240VDC from the FCSP connection via the AC-DC converter even without the HVB connected?

On the other hand, if the HVB is connected during this warming, wouldn't our HVB show some level of charge or discharge or would the FCSP be keeping the HVB at the same SOC?
The thermal management system will only warm the battery when sufficient power is connected via the L2 EVSE.

I suspect, that these controls close the HVB contactors, the AC/DC charger is activated, ramps the energy level high enough to cover the demands of the PTC of around 9KW, but at times I've seen my Emporia log show 18KW flowing to the truck, then it'll ramp down to ~8KW and further down once the temperature goal is within reach, that in turn causes a modest 1 or 2% increase in the SOC, above our charging goal, I've seen the same situation as stated by Chris in post 19.

Preconditioning when not plugged into L2 uses the HVB to preheat the cabin, but not condition the battery. When unplugged, using the HVB to precondition the cabin will inadvertently warm the HVB somewhat because energy is being transferred which will generate some heat internal to the battery.
Except the DIVERTER valve redirects the return loop away from the HVB when NOT connected to L2

The subcontractor that makes the cable has a testing jig to measure continuity, shorts and opens.

7700 and it didn’t fix it? Yeah I would want to see that harness they took out to see the damage for myself!

Yes, I agree, I was referring to the small amount of heat generated by chemical reactions inside the HVB when ever it is being used, not the heat from the PTC which as you say is not being provided to the HVB loop.
