Did they not add android OS in place of Sync?
Nobody knows what it will look like yet.

The software in the truck has two components - the base OS (which isn't really seen by the user) and the user interface (the "skin"). I haven't seen any articles that have discussed Ford's approach to Android Auto.

It might be a completely new experience (perhaps with some holdover cues from SYNC). For new customers, this is the best option, brings the vehicle tech up to date, and gives a much more flexible user experience.

But it could be that they're just dumping the QNX RTOS (the base OS) and porting the existing SYNC skin over to the Android Auto base. It would be unfortunate, IMO, because SYNC sucks so bad - but it would create continuity for those who are used to Ford. And they'll probably still call it SYNC even if the base OS is Android Automotive.

The only thing I've seen is a simple statement that for this year, Ford is replacing SYNC with the Android Automotive OS. There have been pretty much zero details anywhere else (but if you have links, please let me know, I'm intensely curious on this one!)

FWIW, there is no mention of Android Automotive--only Sync 4/4a.

I'm hoping that this means the Android system is delayed--I think this would mean better ongoing support for those still on Sync 4/4a.

I was just thinking that - Farley made a joke about it, even shipping adapters to the earliest deliveries so that the Ford mobile connector could be used to charge a Tesla who was stranded without a cord.

Now he just looks like a hypocrite.

But ultimately hturnerfamily is right, there are much better options out there for less than $500 and if you're going to look for nickel-and-dime cost recovery, that's one of the first places you can start.
Let’s not forget that the new bill has 30% back up to a $1000 for charger install.

Will there be price protection for reservation holders? Like they did for the Bronco.

This thread is going fast.

My Pro is now $50,969 MSRP.

Because of Federal and State Incentives....

Bought in 2022, OTD Price: $30,500.
Buy in 2023, OTD Price: $43,500

Assuming one still qualifies under the new law, my truck is now $13,000 more expensive. Assuming one doesn't qualify, it would have been $20,500 more expensive to buy the same truck in 2023.

Wow..

I would spend any EVSE money on a 30 or 48amp charger for everyday usage at home, at get an ADJUSTABLE amperage model for on-the-road trips, as a backup. The Adjustable feature allows you to plug into many different sizes of outlets, whether 120v or 240v, and adjust the Amperage Draw to keep down the risk of tripping a breaker, etc.

Looks more like a 10k price increase at the Lariat level.

I built my same exact truck that I took delivery of last month, and it now tops 90k!

(Versus the 80k I just paid ).

If I didn’t already have one, this price jump would knock me out. Can’t justify 90k for the Lariat ER w/ max tow package.

Looks like all those selling on Cars and Bids are not so ridiculous over 90k after all….

Ford F-150 Lightning 2023 Lightning Build and Price is Live .... $5000+ increase in price 2D7EA5E9-AAA5-49E7-B98A-8D4787E2321D

The price on my pro increased by $7,500. The Federal incentive should be the same as 2022. What else changed for your situation?

This is similar to the price gate when i was buying my rivian but now all comparable ERs will not qualify for the tax credit. I want the Lightning but I don't know how I justify buying a 90k vehicle with no tax credit with higher loan rates. And honestly really makes you question the benefits of EV over gas due to the substantial price difference and the amount of gas you can buy with the difference in cost.

$7300 price increase for the XLT I took delivery of last week. XLT SR with Max Tow, Tow Tech+Pro power.

Dang. Same here. Plus I would not qualify for the 23 tax credit.

So 22’ XLT is $14800 cheaper than the 23’ XLT for me … I take delivery on Friday … let’s hope the dealer does not try to play any games.

Current:
Base: +$7,000
Options: +$1000
Destination: +$100

Last is a state incentive which caps MSRP at $45k

The federal incentive will be person to person dependent. The truck MSRP qualifies, but your income could exclude you. That's another potential $7500 swing.

*Because of federal and tax swings. In a worse case scenario that's a 70% price increase from 2023 to 2022. That should make for a fun headline for someone.

Doubt it. There are two tiers above reservation holders that will need to be placated: a) those that have MY2022 orders but may get pushed to MY2023 (although we don't know if anyone is going to get pushed yet) and b) those that had MY2022 order invites but deferred to MY2023. Those in the 'a' group would certainly get a personal offer that will offset price increases, but it remains to be seen whether those in 'b' will get anything other than priority slots for ordering.
