Bluecruise 1.4 officially being sent out to F150 & Lightnings starting today (12/11/24)!

I finally got to test drive 1.4 yesterday, all I can say is that it is really stable and lane changes are far better than the last iteration I tried on FSD which was last July.

It really mimics real world scenario driving. For example, lets say you want to switch lanes, FSD would slow down causing the drivers behind you to get pissed, or FSD would speed up but then get too close to the car in front that it would slow down again. Then FSD would make a jerky move into the lane. Just like driving with a teenager.

With BC 1.4 it smoothly speeds up to get enough space and then smoothly merges into the lane you want to go to. I am really impressed with it.

That being said, FSD is still way ahead of the game with everything from graphics to capabilities. I think that Ford is in the right spot though. For those of us who don't really want a car driving itself this is good enough. The only thing I'd like is a better UI when using BC on the instrument cluster. But I am assuming our instrument cluster is limited and can't be modified for a better UI.

Anyways, good job Ford. If you could do a Tesla style "we updated BC" when you send OTA's that would be great.

By the way my MME has 1.4 BC for almost a year. I really like it especially on long distance drives.

Friday evening the 24th of Jan 2025, I received my BC 1.4 OTA update. 95 minutes of an update.
Next day, Saturday, I drove the truck on I85, 38deg, and 75 mph cruise.
Finally, lane changing with my Lightning. It happens with easy and more deliberate nature than my MME.
Passing bigger trucks on the interstate is easier without any shifting in the lane while passing. I noticed that lane centering is right on center. BC stays engaged 95% of the time at 75 to almost 85 mph. Anything above that speed and it’s disconnecting. If the lane markings are worn off, BC is off. Definitely an improvement from 1.2 mode. I also noticed that when the sun is low on the horizon and driving my MME, BC Hands free deactivates completely. Quite different on the Lightning. I attribute that on the height of the truck and the position of the camera. Angle of the glare, I suppose.

Definitely not. There's one curve that I regularly drive on that it doesn't handle well but overall it's rock solid compared to BC1.0.

Try calibrating the IPMA. It can be done with FORScan.
